'25 GA LB Jadon Perlotte (Tennessee)

kinda reminds me of how it went done with Cam Fountain last year.

we were battling SEC schools for him, we took a lead before his commitment date. he almost randomly takes a visit out to USC after them not being a finalist. he commits on or shortly after the trip. rumors kept popping up about him visiting this place or that, UT still in it, but nothing ever materialised and he stays out west.
I was thinking of the same recruit!

Guess the coaches really want him, me personally, I’d pass, because this kid will have drama all throughout the season about being unhappy, etc. and then transfer. (I don’t know, but this is always my first thought with these kids)

More power to the coaches for doing this job. I couldn’t handle it lol

Seems like Arion does too against the pass...they are just young. Love the physical, downhill play against the run by our LBs. They are all big hitters. Spillman is violent too. The IQ, and discipline to read and cover passes in their area of responsibility is what really needs work. This is where we miss Pili. UGA took advantage of this and abused us over the middle of the field vs our LBs and Safeties. Vandy will try to do the same once they realize they cannot run the ball against our front 7 IMO...

We are gonna jack them up Saturday though. We have enough senior leadership on both sides of the ball to keep this team focused. Playoffs start saturday in Nashville! 5 wins away from winning it all.
pass defense is definitely not his strong suit, but Carter has some PBUs and at least 1 int. I can't remember the last time we had an LB that had even Carter's level of production against the pass.

Think he reached back out to us. Probably trying to get a decent deal but that ship has sailed. We’d be glad to have him but I feel like he’s more luxury than a need at this point. Probably had more NIL leverage earlier. Just my uneducated guess.

Last I read AP was saying there was traction for him to come here. USC is just a sinking ship.

As for Jadon Perlotte, his situation is similar to Merritt’s. It has felt like he would end up in Tennessee’s class at different times, but it is yet to happen. USC wants to keep him in their class, and if you believe the rumors circulating about their substantial NIL packages, then the Trojans have a real shot. We will see if the proximity to home and family can win out here over the next few days for the Vols heading into the early signing period. William Inge has done an excellent job with Perlotte throughout and there remains some cautious optimism about Tennessee’s chance.

02/14/2024Has a game tailor made for the next level because of his positional versatility. Shows off a rare combination of size, compete level and athleticism and can line up at about 3-4 different spots. Projectable frame at about 6-foot-3.5, 210 pounds and plays both linebacker and safety. He has exceptional lateral mobility, can drop and cover and plays with a consistent motor. Routinely covers wide receivers down the field in 7v7 play and is very comfortable playing in space. Can blitz off the edge and has the speed to run down plays from behind. He plays with maniacal effort and motor and has a nice mean streak to him as well. He’s a very twitchy player who reads and reacts quickly, can change direction, get off blocks and is a huge hitter. Really doesn't have a discernible weakness and has the kind of all around game that should allow him to see the field as a true freshman.

He's not far off from Kyle Hamilton size. Id love a player that can slide from edge to nickel to LB to safety. Chess piece.

Honestly, this kid has flirted with so many schools.

He could end up anywhere at this point.
He seems like the last remaining question mark for this class.

Sounds like we’re getting Sanders, Campbell, and Merritt.

Sounds like we’re not getting Hayward, Konanbanny, and D. Smith.

Perlotte is the one who’s most up in the air.

Wonder if the staff will hit the portal for some DBs?

Konanbanny would bother me.

It may have been answered previously but I am too lazy to look but is his signing during the early period?

I hope we can flip him, and i would love a full time 6'3" rangy safety like him in the middle of the field that has the size to cover tight ends and be big enough to come down and thump running backs. A chess piece indeed. ♟️
