Telander is a force in the middle of a defense. His instincts are natural as his game continues to grow. He is physical at the point of attack and leverages well throughout the tackle. His lateral and short-area quickness bode well for what Tennessee expects from its middle linebackers. He can drop into coverage fluidly and disrupt passing lanes with his natural length but he is also athletic enough to run with a back out of the backfield. He will undoubtedly line up in the middle of Tennessee’s defense in the coming years.

Impact Rating
Telander has been a top target in this class since the Vols offered him last year. He is a versatile linebacker with immense upside and one that the Tennessee staff is ecstatic about, and rightfully so. Telander’s star ratings may not reflect the caliber of player that he is but his offer list sure does. He received interest from UGA and Alabama this spring, both programs came through to watch him, as well as Michigan. However, Telander has been diligent in the process and was already locked into a slate of official visits with schools he felt comfortable with. This is a big recruiting win for Tennessee as they have secured a long-term piece in the middle of their defense.

Gainesville High School Special Teams Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator Riley Niblett shares insight on what Tennessee is getting in Telander as a player. "Tennessee is getting someone who will lay it on the line every play for the guys next to him,” Niblett said of the standout linebacker. “Jeremiah not only has the talent to go as far as he wants, but the work ethic to go with it. He is the ultimate competitor and he makes everyone on the field around him better...Servant leadership is something that is becoming more rare. I think what is most refreshing about Jeremiah is how willing he is to help other people. Regardless of football, he just wants to help others succeed. That’s why he goes and picks up teammates who can’t find a ride. That’s why he stays after to make sure trash is picked up. His teammates respect him not because of what he says or does, but because of who he is. He embodies everything you want your program to be about.”

“Jeremiah is someone who is a fierce competitor between the lines, but off the field likes to stay out of the spotlight,” Niblett said of what Telander will have to work on between now and college. “The way he will play on Saturdays and the way he will represent the Volunteers in the community will make it hard for him to avoid that spotlight. The great thing for him is he’s coming from a really good family, his father coached college football for over a decade, he will be leaving a program that demands a similar day-to-day commitment that will be expected from him there, and he’s always eager to learn. I honestly think the bigger challenge will be Tennessee having to keep Jeremiah Telander jerseys in stock over the next few years!”

Facts. I’m in Louisville and have gotten 6 texts about Telander to the Hill. They are salty as hell but Louisville is throwing tons of money into recruiting right now. I was at Bowman field with my die hard Louisville fan and best friend. They had their recruits walking through the hanger with 10 vehicles all over 6 figures and two private jets for them to get in. It’s pretty cool to watch Louisville beat Kentucky up in recruitment this year. Louisville still understands they take a backseat to Tennessee and it will stay that way. It’s just incredible to see how NIL is changing a 6-6 Louisville team with a clown coach signing the best running back in the country. I’m all for spreading the wealth and letting the development and coaching be a bigger factor. Go Big Orange! Great get!!
