Ollie Lane 300+. I think this guy could see some time this fall. Hes all in for UT and from everything weve heard from him hes going to do whatever it takes to contribute. Love it
Hes one I would really love to redshirt, but his progress may not allow for it.
Edit: Forgot the new redshirt rules. NM
I always thought it was crap... you are in their for one game and now you cant redshirt.
It will help with development for sure... those cupcakes can really help the development of your guys.
I think I'm definitely in the minority, but I'm not too wild about it. I understand what you're saying about being in one game and then you're screwed, but I feel 4 games is swinging the pendulum too far in the other direction.
Injuries or certain personal situations are a different matter. But being able to play every down for 1/3 of the season and maintain the flexibility to redshirt is a head-scratcher to me.

I love it, and its for a word you used, flexibility. Towards the end of every season you have kids fighting through injuries because their backup isnt as good but the freshman might be but you dont want to pull the shirt for 1/2 game or 2, secondly I think it gets freshmen more ready for the next season. Practice reps are fine but nothing like live action and getting ready for the speed of CFB.
Like I said, I realize I'm in the minority here. I'm probably overthinking it but I'll readily admit it's going to be interesting. On one hand, it's easy to envision coaches using more and more redshirts, but on the other hand, coaches are going to have to use great judgement and not allow their rosters to be bloated with kids that simply aren't quite good enough to be a starter in the SEC.
I'm thinking the 85 number is going to become even more important and will certainly provide a challenge to coaches to properly manage their rosters.
