'19 GA OL Wanya Morris (Tennessee signee)

Everyone likes to blame coaching for some of the players lack of play. But if I can recall Derek Barnett was coached by the same coaching staff & he turned out great

Some athletes are natural talents, but most need regular coaching to stay on top of their games. Why do you think they have coaches in the NFL. These are the best of the best and they still get coached regularly.

I like Wanya, A LOT. But dang, my man just said can I get a Go Volls. Him, Wright and another player pronounced it that way. WTF is going on?

So you point out an outlier and that makes you right?

Naw.... try again

This times 1000. Either we had the highest bust rate of high rated recruits the last 4 years or so in which an abnormally high amount of high 4-5 star players turned out way below their rankings, or we had a coaching staff that had no clue what to do with the talent once it got here. I'm gonna call occam's razor on this one.

He’s the all time sack leader at UT, he was great as soon as he stepped on campus.

Derek Barnett was going to be great anywhere he went. He wasn’t coached up to become the school’s sack leader. He was great in spite of the piss poor S&C program, subpar coaching, and accountability.

the same game could be played with most of our failures.

Fair enough, but if you compared the number of recruiting busts we have experienced over the past 6 seasons with the number of busts amongst other programs that routinely finished in the top-15 of recruiting rankings, I’d bet we have more than our fair share in comparison to our contemporaries. I’d also bet they weren’t all destined to be busts in the same fashion Barnett was destined to be a stud.

just like life....some people have the drive to be great, and some don't.

we have talked about that for a while, highest number of busts, but I would love to see any numbers on that. I would bet we aren't "that" far off. especially with the coaching changes.

barnett was a guy a lot, including some of the recruiting services, thought would be a DT. so its not like we went into his career thinking we had landed a future record breaker. same thing could apply to guys playing out of position, Croom for instance. I think he had a great career here, others think because he didn't play TE all four/five years he was a bust.
