Odd you would point something like that out seeing UT's acceptance rate as of 2016 was over 76% and Auburn, everyone in Georgia and Alabama's fallback plan is 77%. UGA's is 53%, Bama's is 54%, fact is UT is near the top for easiest schools to get accepted to in the SEC. Only places Easier are Ole Miss, LSU and Auburn, so as a UT fan it's not wise to crack on very many school's admittance requirements.

this has a lot more to do with number of applicants than standards. Average student enrollee is remarkably similar between the two. UGA requires SAT but UT doesn't. but UGA doesn't require ACT while UT does.

UGA GPA 3.90 ACT 26 SAT 1320
UT GPA 3.89 ACT 27 UT 1220

at least on prepscholar both schools standards and rankings are remarkably similar. and the differences in score are pretty close considering they aren't required to get in.

None of that changes the acceptance percentage and the guy was acting like UT was so much harder to get into than UGA which is false. UT with a total enrollment of just under 30K with a total enrollment of just over 37k, logic would tell you UGA has more applicants and accepts far less.

UGA had 24.4K applicants for first year students for the fall of 17. Getting UGA is highly competitive, the only ones tougher in the SEC are UF and Vandy. Of course all SEC schools make allowances for athletes, many wouldn't get in either school without them. But to the poster I replied to who seemed to think UT was much harder to get into that UGA was totally inaccurate. It's best to check before making foolish statments that aren't true.

Its not about the standards for the regular student. Its about exceptions granted for athletes. Ut has been noted for not granting the exceptions that many of its competitors grant.

number of applicants doesn't really matter if of those 24.4k 23k don't even meat the requirements.

and even with being more selective they are remarkably similar to UT who is more open. forgive me if I am not impressed with the difference.

The thing that amazes me about the Uga guy on this board is that he sounds surprised by Georgia success in recruiting. Up until this passed year they have been irrelevant for the past 25-30 year. They don’t have to leave two hours in any direction from there campus to recruit but up until this past season they have not won a thing.

they didnt win anything this year, got a second shot at auburn, and avoided ala, so on paper they might be sec champions but we all know who the 2 best teams in the conf were

Lol. Some of you crack me up. It’s not even August of 2019 and you are already acting like these commitments are 100% solid and nothing can happen.

The QBs are committing early to help recruit. Of course none are 100 but a QB doesn’t flip as easily as other positions.
