Maurer is clearly above and beyond JG. His interception was on the money and hit JJ right in the chest. On the play he got knocked out he had to flick it side arm off the back foot and it was a dart right in stride. He’s a gamer.

No way that happens. Even if he doesn't win the starting job day 1, he'll be the #2 QB the day he arrives on campus in January. MUCH more likely he's the starter day 1 than redshirting.

I would also think we need to seek a third viable option as well.

I like Maurer, but, his health might be an issue. I hope Bailey is everything we hope and more. But, we need a back up QB who can actually play if called upon. Shrout might not be here, a good grad transfer would be nice, but, who is gonna come here to sit. Hill could be the guy. But, having someone else in the hopper would help.

Serious question for the recruiting gurus, how solid is Bailey? Does anyone think "facemask gate" from Saturday will have any impact on recruiting, especially Bailey since he's a quarterback? I don't consider it a big deal personally but I'm not sure how it will be perceived by potential recruits.
