'20 GA QB Harrison Bailey (UT SIGNEE)

Seems like we do this every year, but next year will be the first time in his collegiate career he’s had the same coordinator for more than a year. The lights seem to be turning on towards the end of this season. Gotta wonder if another summer in the same system might actually yield the kind of productivity we thought we were going to see earlier this year.
I hope you are right and he doesn't cost us another BYU type game. The WRs an TEs were running more free in that game than they were against Mizzou. We could and should have hung 50 on them.

This will be JG's first time in the same offense 2 years in a row. I foresee drastic improvement, which is potentially scary, especially with a competent OL for a full season.

I agree. This will be the first season at UT that JG has not gone through a season then had a new OC going into the following season and having to learn a new system with new terminology. I can't help but think he will be much more comfortable in Chaney's system to start next season.

I understand that. I just don’t want to enter that Ou game with confidence and him come out and play like he did against Vandy, UAB, or BYU. If he does we won’t have a chance

I hope you are right. If he had played better against Vanderbilt, I would be more compelled to agree with you. Wondering if inconsistency may just be a trademark of his. I do think that having a second year in the same system will inevitably be good for his development as a player. If I were him, I would spend the entire off-season working on the short throws. He misses more screen and swing passes than any quarterback I can recall watching. All that to say, I give the kid major props for sticking around for as long as he has. He has shown toughness and maturity that few possess. Additionally, I haven't forgotten his performance against Missouri. The guy is extremely capable if he can put it all together.

If JG can beat out a sophomore Maurer, a Sophomore Shrout, a solid grad transfer in Hill, and an EE Bailey then he will have earned the job against some stud competition and there would be reason for optimism.
Problem with that way of thinking is that JG is practice Peyton. That’s why there was no QB competition coming into the year. But he can’t always take it from practice to the field. So he could fool us again by the way he plays in fall camp

The weather was #(*&@ and the dude just lost his grandmother 2 days prior. The game was delayed, which always messes with your psyche.

He started 0/6 and finished 6/17. Once he got settled, he was 6/11 which isn't horrible considering the weather conditions. Given how he has played to close the season, I'm treating that game as an outlier and I'm not a huge JG fan.

There was also at least 3 blatant pass interferences that were not called. The vandy kid that got the interception was holding on nearly every pass play.

But now we can have confidence that they will not care to pull him if they think he will cost us the game.

It would be nice to have a true duel QB that truly is a threat running but after Bailey has done his thing. I reallt think he is going to be something special here.

YES!!! Unless I run a pure West coast offense I would ALWAYS have a dual threat QB. It stresses the defense so much.

To be fair...all that is true. I hope the kid can come out and just dominate next year, but I will always have that nagging anxiety when he plays. You just keep waiting for bad Jarret to show up..

I understand most of this board hates JG still and is in love with Bailey, but how often does a true freshmen step on campus and end up lighting the world on fire so to speak? It might do Bailey some good to redshirt and grow under Chaney for a year before throwing him into the furnace, rather than expect him to be Trevor Lawrence on Day 1. That's a lot of pressure for a true freshmen quarterback. It's a handful of special QBs who are good enough to step in on Day 1 and be elite. It's not a slight against Bailey to think he might need some time to acclimate to college before being ready.

I'm fine with JG next year. Maurer was a fan favorite this season strictly because he had the benefit of NOT being JG. Maybe one day this fanbase will stop being so damn hard on a 21-year old kid who has had some ups and downs. I think next year JG could be quite good with a second straight year of Chaney. It will benefit us in the long-run if we don't have to play Bailey next year.

While I agree with you for the most part, and I think the coaches would love to redshirt HB and develop him, the 21 year old adult has given people many reasons to be nervous when he is in the game. Also the 2nd game next year is Oklahoma so we need a QB to help us win and with JG he could or he couldn't.

Really lol? There are many Vol fans who have wished ill will upon JG through a large portion of this past season. Heck, JG said he received death threats at a few different points. JG has received a large portion of heat/hate from our fan base.

Haynes King is dropping in the Rankings.

Adam Friedman (Mid-Atlantic): There was a decent amount of debate about
Haynes King. The Texas A&M quarterback commit is a great athlete and can get hot as a passer in the right situations but I'm worried about his lack of consistency. There are fewer highs than there are lows in his game and it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up playing a different position at the next level.

Okay, so with all of these QBs dropping in the rankings, who is climbing the board? What QBS in Rivals eyes are the crown jewels? Obviously whoever is committed to Bama.
