Truth be told a high level QB should be unstoppable against those two teams regardless what the defense did.
D-line did look like shat against GSU with no Bituli. JG is alright with me and if Bailey isn't lights out then i prefer JG. It's just I feel like he's guaranteed to play like sh*t against Florida, UGA & Bama. Without a doubt, almost looks terrified against those guys.Exact same can be said for every position. Lord knows I'm not here to defend JG but one of Pruitt's most impressive accomplishments: Admitting the issues, along with their causes and fixing them.
And Pruitt definitely wouldn't use the Butch sounding descriptions of our DL, like they never saw a FB helmet until last year.
GS started 2 redshirt sophomores and a dang rs freshman on their OL.
A very low 3*, a 2* and 1 no* And it was Georgia ****ing State.
We led entering the 4th quarter, even scored a garbage TD. A middle of the pack Sunbelt team had to score 3 times in the 4th, to assure the win.. and we couldn't stop them.
JG couldn't pass on them AND our OL and backs couldn't run it in. It was embarrassing at every position.
Idc about the JG hate, have at it. But there's no lipstick thick enough to dress up the decrepit pig we put on the field that day at every position. And we shouldn't try, discredits the ownership CJP put on display.
we win 8 despite of JG and he was bailed out by the two senior receivers. The Indiana game is the perfect example of what JG can or cannot do. I’m sorry but for the continue rise in UT football performance , JT must not be the starter. We have no chance if JG is the starter in the Ok or Florida games. HB or another Qb have to be the starters next year if we are to have a successful season. We won 8 this past season and should not have done that without JG. This will also be the first time that he has had the same offensive coordinator in consecutive years. Nobody expects JG to be All-SEC all of a sudden, but with much better OL play and a top notch defense he doesn't have to be. The run game should be much better, and he just has to be more consistent and get out of his own head. We have to have him the 1st 4-6 games as a competent starter. HB is the future, but I don't think that future begins game 1.

Definitely not a confident Qb, even against the Indiana’s and Vandy’s.D-line did look like shat against GSU with no Bituli. JG is alright with me and if Bailey isn't lights out then i prefer JG. Defense played well enough that with average QB play we win by at least 3 td’s. But we got horrendous QB play instead. So bad was the play at that position, he ended up being not allowed to pass in the second half. Even with the bad defensive performance against GSU, plays were there to be made on offense all game long and our QB could not make them. These are facts. They didn’t rank 23rd after the first two games. They also had the terrible bust against BYU. Plenty of blame to go around.
I don’t think anyone is arguing against this. The whole team was terrible against GSU. This is known.Exact same can be said for every position. Lord knows I'm not here to defend JG but one of Pruitt's most impressive accomplishments: Admitting the issues, along with their causes and fixing them.

Bad against Vandy too...same thing..guys wide open all over, and he just can't see it and get it to them. That game could have been a massacre with better play from him.I was there at GSU. JG missed wide open receivers all game long. Had 2 terrible turnovers as well. He isn’t the sole reason, but with better QB play we still beat them.
With average QB play Taylor bust doesn’t matter. Average QB play beats BYU by 3 touchdowns.
And uh, yes we did.
Better QB play and Indiana isn’t close either. These are 100% indisputable facts. Won’t argue this any longer.
Logic and awareness are great thingsAll you've done is "ifs and buts". Don't give me that crap. You know better.
No. The DL entered the season with ZERO experience. It was perfectly reasonable to expect them to struggle for a while. They needed an O led by an effective QB who could score points and stay on the field. They didn't have one.
FWIW, by the end of the season, they saved that same QB from the same fate vs Vandy and IU.
I don't know who you are arguing with, but it takes a complete ******* moron to defend JGs starting play at this point.By far and away the MOST exaggerated of a very large number of excuses used for JG. He processes slow. He doesn't anticipate throws well. Those are innate talents to a significant degree.
And he had Jones' O for his first two years. Assistants coming and going are a way of life for college players.
Explain. Exactly what about him having an experience in common with a lot of players in this day and age made it harder on him? What specifically about him throwing late and off target vs IU was due to different OC's?
Second most exaggerated excuse. If he didn't process so slow and hold the ball too long... the OL wouldn't have looked so bad. Dormady took like 5 sacks behind the same OL that JG had about 30 behind. The 2nd year there's no good comparison since he got almost all the PT. The OL is NO excuse for what he did this year.
Third best in the SEC behind Bama and UGA in preventing pressure. Sixth in sacks allowed. So no, not ranked low at all. JG however was one of the worst in the SEC in time to deliver the ball.
He helped but UT's 8 wins aren't because they figured out how to score a bunch of points. So laughable that they're parroted by announcers who are former coaches and players?
You don't need to have expert qualifications. You just have to know a little about the game... and have your eyes open.
Eight that should have been at least 10 if not for the play of that QB? No thanks.
He was replaced by a true Fr who wasn't ready. In spite of pouring a whole off season into JG... the coaches were ready to pull the plug after only 4 games and go with a freshman. Think that through.
He had an advantage and asserted it later in the season. He was more experienced and better at managing the O. He had one really good game- Mizzou. Had the D not been significantly improved... he would have lost the last two for UT. I stomached watching the IU game again the other day. He played MORE than bad enough to lose that game.
did @Sleegro run out of those ocd-triggering pics?
They clearly didn't play well enough because we lost. JG played pretty awful. My only point is that if you're going to say what if, say it for other parts of the team. I hope Bailey wins the job. If he doesn't, I refuse to believe that some of our bigger games are automatic losses. Let's trust CJP and the staff to have us ready.Defense played well enough that with average QB play we win by at least 3 td’s. But we got horrendous QB play instead. So bad was the play at that position, he ended up being not allowed to pass in the second half. Even with the bad defensive performance against GSU, plays were there to be made on offense all game long and our QB could not make them. These are facts.
meh, rehashing JG play or CBJ with the same old points is one of my bugaboos.
