Bailey’s father, Orvel Bailey, told GoVols247 that he and his son had “great conversations” with Chaney during a visit that left Bailey “super impressed” with Chaney and “super excited” about Tennessee’s plans for him, and he’s already planning to make the trip again Saturday. "He made a good impression on Harrison,” Orvel Bailey told GoVols247. “I mean, they made it pretty clear that he’s their quarterback for the future.
“I think Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt’s great. Love Coach Pruitt, which is why we committed to Tennessee — because of Coach Pruitt — and our minds have never changed about that. … It helped for Harrison to get up and meet Coach Chaney and just kind of feel what type of coach he’s going to be. I think it’s a great fit, and I think Harrison thinks it’s a great fit.”
Bailey also spent time with Pruitt and assistant coach
Chris Weinke, but Orvel Bailey said he and his son mainly “got to know Coach Chaney really well.”“I mean, I think we spent five hours (with him),” Orvel Bailey said. “They went to the (basketball) game. (Chaney) sat with Harrison during the game, just getting to know him better. I think they’re going to do great things together.”
“I mean, look, they made it clear Harrison’s the quarterback of the future for them — well, for at least the 2020 class. They’ve got some really good quarterbacks in there now. … He’s going to have to go in and compete. But for the 2020 class, Harrison’s their quarterback. They made him feel that way.
“They’re pretty straightforward. They’re all straight shooters. Coach Chaney’s pretty cool. Enjoyed our time with him, conversations. We’ll be back up next week to get to know him a little better. They want him to come back up, and of course he’s committed here.”
