'24 GA QB Jake Merklinger (Tennessee)

so you are getting your opinion of Georgia's QB room from the same quality of sources as these radio talk show hosts.
I explained my opinion quite clearly and with veritable FACTS to back it. Your time so you're free to be obtuse on it.

and I stated it was radio guys opinion. Considering they are based in Atlanta, where I think you are in Texas, and bigger Georgia fans than you, I am hoping; and have better connections to the program, including talking to multiple coaches on staff, players, and other industry members, I would assume they have a better pulse on who Georgia prefers than you.

Georgia being "cool" with Raiola leaving because they have better in this class came off as pure copium and revisionist history as someone who listened to the situation daily. but I guess you also listen to too many people talk about Georgia recruiting too? or maybe you have done some other type of research to make your opinion the most valid in this conversation?

Why are you using “cool” and attributing it to ME. That’s bad “research”! 😉 Listening to fanboys squawk about another team’s recruiting on an endless loop doesn’t make you an informed INSIDER…it makes you a masochist. Never alleged that Kirby and Co were COOL with losing a highly ranked prospect at the most important position in a class. Just that they’ve always VALUED THE OTHER QB they wanted in that class…that’s why they recruited him. I don’t have to hang out at your barbershops and chicken coops to glean that from the timeline.

never claimed to be an insider mr timeline.

i am a fan of CFB, and if you listen to radio show talking CFB in Atlanta, the Dogs and the Jackets are going to come up pretty regularly. You shouldn't need a hair cut to understand that, but idk maybe it would help you.

sure they valued Puglisi, something worth $100 bucks still has a value, but it aint much next to the big shiny 5 carat diamond. which is why they went out an recruited the best QB in the nation, got him to transfer high schools from Arizona to Georgia, and sent multiple coaches to talk with him when he was considering Nebraska, all while they had Puglisi committed.

interesting strategy to waste all the time, money, and effort, when these coaches KNOW they are just going to play the lower rated guy because that is what Kirby does. But what do the actual coaches know, the ones making millions and actually doing the recruiting? We have a rival fan and expert in reading timelines who knows better.

I’m remarking about the ACTUAL LOSS from the coaches perspective. They were always going to retain Puglisi, and I wouldn’t have bet against him in the future competition. 5 stars are shinier than 4, but their current starter had the latter in high school and kept two with the former on the bench. Modus operandi dating back to Fromm. Mebbe in between shots and darts, they recall that. I don’t think Smart and his cronies intend to roll with the lower ranked out of high school, but when the competition for the starting job ends, nerd evaluations prove immaterial to them. Raiola might’ve noticed and didn’t want to follow the trek of Brock Vandagriff and Gunnar Stockton.

But to too many people it is all about the stars. Some fans do not realize that sometimes it is more about the heart.

I like Jake. I think he is highly underrated. Obviously development is important. However, how many in here were losing their heads when Simpson committed to Bama? He couldn’t win the starting job in a bad
QB year.
The mental jump from highschool to college is huge at the QB position.
Serious question how is he underrated? Polynesian bowl practice just started and he played garbage competition. Legitimately curious.

Convinced Merk would be rather higher had he camped during the summer.
I had Nico was #1 QB in his class before he committed.

Then about 1 year later we get a commitment from this kid for 2024. All he does is go out and absolutely dominate his competition. There's something to be said about that.

I would take this kid over Dylan Riola and not think twice. They both played in GA in 2023, and Merklinger had less talent on his team. Jake was the better QB. Riola is obviously ranked #1.
I'm saying that Riola is overrated and that somebody else is #1 in 2024. Jeremiah Smith imo- WR out of Chaminade Madonna, FL is number 1.

Jake is better than Riola and deserves to be a 5 star. He's so good that Nico will need to continue improving despite his own enormous talent!

Strong Arm on this kid to throw hit 69 yards. Didn’t expect that
Gotta be honest. This is just the type of kid who becomes THAT qb. The one folks just overlook due to the focus on the 5 stars only see him blossom and get invites to the heistman ceremony. Being on UT's rosters completely eliminates him from winning of course. I keep seeing nothing but great things about this kid, but for some reason, he just doesn't excite folks. The more I read about him, the more comfortable I am with the thought of him being Nico's backup. One thing is certain tho...he needs to get here for spring and be a sponge. Odds are that he'll end up being needed at some point next season.

He’s a great player but let’s pump the brakes a little ha
