So many potentials and variables... what level of shoes was he wearing. Was there allowable wind and if it was favoring or opposing, possibly other variables that could impact times when the discussion is about tenths and hundredths of seconds.

Edited to add, if this was in a race setting did he ease up or push for time if he was winning etc....
You do not ease up when running a 40.Ican’t think of any official 40 yard races. They are primarily used to determine speed in football so easing up is unlikely a legit point.

So what’s wrong with him that he wasn’t recruited highly?

Confused why you'd quote this post from February now to ask this question...

Why does something have to be "wrong with him" you realize how many HS recruits go unranked and make it to the NFL/NBA every year? Ja Morant was the 2nd overall pick in the NBA draft and unranked, the short answer is nothing is wrong with the prospect. There's simply too many recruits for all the coaches/ranking sites to keep up.

He's on scholarship now though, and should be a guy that earns more playing time next season.

Welcome mom. I would say to stay on volnation, but not in your son's thread. There are a few very unknowledgeable, insensitive idiots that post here. But it's enough of them to get under even the toughest skin. If you do stay in the thread, try not to let them bait you into a back and forth exchange. Ignore their comments and move on. That's the best advice I can give to any and all parents who's kids are being recruited or become vols. Welcome to the family and I hope Isaiah does big things on Rocky Top.

Hey, who are you calling unknowedgable and insensitive?

FWIW (For what it’s worth) @Takegame33 Coach Pruitt hasn’t just been signing Preferred Walk-Ons just to sign them. He is signing viable candidates to earn scholarships who are willing to work hard and compete for spots in order to also build quality depth. Which is something Tennessee hasn’t had in a long time.

If you are Isaiah’s mom I am sure Coach Pruitt and staff have already said something like this to you before he signed. This staff will take care of your son, good luck and god bless to him and your family!

Damn nice call!

My wish is that he spent some time on the track team this Spring. This guy and Jerrod Means.

Both need to train to be able to maintain that short area 4.5 speed consistently over and longer distances.

This kid has some good hands. Now that he's on Scholarship, I guarantee he will really step up his training now.
