'19 GA WR Ramel Keyton (Tennessee signee)

Some people think I have an unhealthy love for Khafre Brown, which I would love to be a Vol. But, if Keyton is the only WR, UT signs and prefer to concentrate on the big uglies, OL and DL, it wouldn't hurt my feelings. This kid is a player and UT is loaded at WR, imo. So as long as UT gets Keyton in this cycle at WR, I will be ecstatic. Plenty of other positions we need more than WR. But, if we decide to take 2 WRs, give me Keyton and Brown and a top 5 WR class, imo. If Keyton hadn't got hurt, I have no doubt he would have been a 5-star and still may be, considering the stats he put up against the best comp in Georgia
I know you like him, Dog; but it seems they like Payton more...it seems.

Edit: Swansoned. 😢

I think its looking like staff is going for Keyton and Payton. In all honesty Dog I dnt think we can go wrong with Payton or Brown. I was a little leary on Payton at first. But seeing that 40 time of 4.34? Dang thats game breaking speed we havent seen in a long time.
Once again, BOT, u are spitting the truth. Probably, can't go wrong either way, I just have my preference, but then again I still think Jordan Murphy is going to be a star. Seen flashes with Murphy, but honestly, he is probably the 5th best WR on this team right now. Don't think I don't like Payton, too, because I do

Seems that way, I have love for Payton like I do for u, Sugar, don't get me wrong. Good size, great speed and 3 to play 2, right ?

I appreciate that, Dog; right back at ya.

I believe so, 3 for 2.

Also, think about this, Dog...maybe Brown isn't bringing the intangibles on his non-higlight plays, and Payton is, on the entirety of their film, eg: blocking, getting after it downfield, etc etc. Both look like amazing playmakers, but maybe Payton does those little things better, when watching them more closely, you know. Maybe that's why they like Payton more, not to mention that 4.34.

I think Keyton will be one of the best recruits we’ve had in a while. I was looking at Sabans 2008 class last night and he went from 12th to 3rd in rankings. A marquee receiver in Julio Jones was a big factor. I think Keyton is that guy. If he had made it through the entire season he’d be flirting with a 5th star.

Jennings is a redshirt junior, although it sounds like he’s set on entering the draft after this year.
Where are you getting that info? I personally think he would REALLY benefit from a strong senior year as far as his draft stock is concerned, but that's just my opinion, no first hand info

Just what has been discussed on this board by a few on here who are around the athletic program and have heard things. I have no first hand info. Just mentioning what’s been discussed. I would love for him to come back next year. The more alpha dogs the better.

I just feel like he has to know he probably won't get drafted if he comes out, dude is a dog there's no doubt but given his injury history and off the field stuff that happened at the end of last season, you think an NFL team is going to use a pick on him? I feel like it isn't likely, with that being said I think he would be one of the first Undrafted FA's to get a call assuming he posted good numbers at The Combine (if he's invited) or at UT's pro day. I hope like heck he gets smart and sticks around one more year to A)help TN, B)Raise his draft stock, and C) get his degree

Would be another stupid move for another Vol going too early... he won't have the consistent body of work under his belt to go before the 5-6th if he is lucky... next year he can put together a great season.

i dont' think we have anyone doing anything consistently good enough to warrant NFL talk. we got several that look the part for sure....but i'll be a little surprised if we have multiple defections for the draft.

Not so sure. Hypothetically say he’s a 5th-6th rounder as you say. What would be his ceiling if he came back next year? What if injury occurred? Would the difference in potential draft stock be worth it to get an extra year of salary in the league? How important is his degree?

*this isn’t just for Jennings, something all draft eligible players should consider imo

A lot goes into these decisions.

I think his ceiling is as high as being 3rd rounder or even higher if he's faster than I think and tests well at the combine, guy is sure handed, big, strong and has competitive fire that is becoming rarer and rarer in today's world of participation trophy sports, at this point I would wager his ceiling if he declares is a 6th round pick and that'll be based on potential not production. That's just my 2 cents

I knew he had a year of eligibility, just don't see him returning. Thought maybe I missed something

All reasonable takes.

I’m just pointing out that even in the scenario he comes back and improves his draft stock some, is that a net positive or a net negative in the end? (Depending on other factors that mean a lot to the individual player)

Just food for thought. I want to see all our players achieve their maximum earning potential however that looks.

I'm always up for some food for thought, here's some for you (and I'm not trying to be a smart a**): based on the numbers he would cost himself somewhere between 300-500K in signing bonus if he were picked in the 6th round vs the 3rd and his average salary would be down 150-300k a year in that scenario.

So overall from the monetary standpoint it is beneficial. I think the only real argument that can be made is either you NEED the money now or the fear of injury, because other than that it would make more sense to stick it out and get your degree and put together some more tape to sell yourself for teams.

Yep. I would say the fear of injury or fear of stock not rising that much would be the main deterrents. Also some guys just want to take care of their families now as opposed to waiting a year, even if it means more money.

Also you could sort of bet on yourself too. Say JJ thinks he can be a legit NFL WR and leaving early puts him 1 year closer to signing a larger 2nd contract down the road.

Not sure what the answer to all those questions is for him, but a lot that goes into it. Would love to have him back and see him improve draft stock tremendously.
