Game Plan vs A&M

We are truly blessed this year with a great stable of running backs. Sampson, Smalls, Wright any 1 of them would be the featured back on most SEC teams. I like them all but Sampson seems to run like he’s angry , which I like to see.
Needs to be a angry game. A&M will come to play and they have talent.

This aint your typical Bama OL; like I've mentioned before they are 127th in the nation for giving up sacks........some of that is on the QB I assume.
Heard a former bammer OL on a radio show today pointing out that bammer's O line is "very young". They lost a lot to the portal, apparently two are at TCU and he mentioned another one or two schools I can't recall.

Interesting that the portal has hit bammer so hard.

Maybe those players won't put up with saban's BS if they don't have to. :p

Block Well and keep out QB clean. Run the ball decently - 100-150 yards+. Sack their QB! Hit some big plays! Create Turnovers!

A&M is # 6 in the Nation stopping the run. Next plan?
I guess we should just call A&M and tell them to cancel their flights and that we forfeit the game?

I'm sure our coaches will have a plan that includes using the running game along with spreading the defense with those bubble passes that many do not like, limiting their ability to substitute on defense etc. to attempt to disrupt what they do well.

We need to be patient and willing to accept that runs or bubble passes in blocks of three plays that total yardage greater than 10 with no penalties, move the chains.

That is more a factor of who the opponent was than it is of needing to score 30 points. For most wins, we haven't needed that many points.
I think in this case we need to start fast. I don’t think aTm is built to comeback. If we get them in situations where they obviously have to pass Max Johnson will get beat up.

Joe must have a great game, as did MIlroe . And the receivers have to catch every ball . A&M has Bama/Uga talent on defense. ps, the game will be played.

I think it will be the same thing UT has been doing all season so far.

Throwing the ball at the sidelines, and handing it off when they have the numbers. Occasional deep pass that will fall incomplete, couple of mid range cannon shots, half dropped.

Defense will apply as much pressure on the QB as possible to help a vulnerable secondary. With the pressure they’ll have opportunities to stop the run in the backfield, which they have done really well, but if a back does get out it will be a big gain (again secondary).

UT will get screwed on some calls, will go for it on 4th when they probably should kick a FG, and go into the locker room with 2 or 3 timeouts.

I do think UT can beat A&M, but they are better than USC. It will be a tough game.

Game plan is Heupel will have a pretty lady meet Petrino before the game and tell him where she is sitting. She will wink ,smile, wave and blow kisses at him during the game.

And have her ride into the stadium on a motorcycle

Come out in 5 wide with a RB spread as WR. Throw screens as your running game. A few QB draws by Milton. Some jet sweeps to Squirrel. Then air it out to Keyton or Webb. Get equal touches for Wright and Sampson.

On defense, stop running game. Make Max Johnson beat you with his arm. Force field goals.

What you got?

Run our offense and stay two dimensional. The Offense is based on spreading the field and going run/pass based on how many defenders are in the box. Agree that we have to take some shots downfield.

If any wrinkle is there it would be, for me, to see Milton on designed runs and making plays with his feet if no one is open. Don't force it, take what they give you and let your skill guys make plays.

Agree on defense. Make their QB beat us and get them in long down/distance. Keep their playmakers in front of you and sound tackling. Once our line starts teeing off on the QB we have the advatage.

The key on offense in my opinion is Milton's movement in and out of the pocket and whether or not he makes the right read to take off or throw downfield. A&M will force him out of the pocket and I don't recall him throwing on the run much, although it may have happened.

Thought more about this.

Milton is going to have to run some. I'm not sure who has said this previously. Honestly, I don't think he's good at the broken play rushes. I think they have to design some runs for him. I cannot recall Heupel having run the QB middle like Dobbs used to run but that's what I would like to see. Fake the sweep then trap on the inside and let safeties try to tackle Milton in space.

His success throwing on the run is very low. Someone covered that a few weeks back.
