1) Jeronne Maymon. Jeronne Maymon. Jeronne Maymon. Incredible performance. That's as good a performance as we've seen in years. An All-American worthy performance.

2.) Trae Golden choked. There's no nice way to say it. If he plays even mediocre, we win the game. Plain and simple. He was utterly atrocious on both ends of the floor.

3.) Dwight Miller, Kenny Hall, and Yemi all provided quality minutes today.

4.) Jordan McRae sucked. He nearly gave Memphis an 8-0 run by himself in the first half. He also played sub-par on ball defense.

5.) Richardson was excellent for a true freshmen. He clearly beat out McRae in this game, and if McRae doesn't pick it up, Richardson will continue to play.

6.) We dominated the glass today. Dominated. That bodes well for us in the future.

7.) This was a game of two halves. Coach Martin learned very quickly why it's not smart to play up-tempo with Memphis.

8.) The second half adjustments were fantastic. Fantastic. Good shot selection for the most part, and we controlled the tempo and the game.

9.) Big time kudos for Coach Martin for getting us in a position to win in the late game situations. He put his best player in a position to make a play each and every time. That's all a coach can do. And, it's refreshing to see that rather than a half-court heave like we saw last year on numerous occassions.

10.) The bottomline is this team can be good. We learned that we have some serious toughness today. We learned that we can compete with anyone at anytime even if one of our big guns is playing poorly. Congratulations to Memphis on a well-deserved win. Both teams played their hearts out today. It was a true classic matchup that is only going to help both teams going forward.

I think I'm going to hear whistles in my sleep tonight from all the calls.

Both teams were getting silly calls.

Good game. Golden was horrendous, but Maymon was a man. This team can definitely compete with anyone. Will be fun to watch them grow.

My favorite thing about the game was dominating the offensive boards and shooting free throws as well as we did.

You forgot the part where we completely mismanaged the final 3 seconds of the 2nd OT.

Other than that, spot on.

9. Its the coaches job to stop a 6'1" player from repeating the mistake of taking the ball inside amongst the trees. If he will not listen, bench him.

I didn't forget anything. I don't believe in making up fiction. The overtimes were handled fine by Coach Martin.

Agreed. We had the best player on the court take the final shot. Really all you can ask for. Especially considering the guards hadn't really done much to that point.

Our play calls out of TO's and under our own basket were bad today. They led to turnovers or bad shots, outside of one play to maymon.

There were two plays to Maymon that led to buckets. He called a timeout and got Maymon another easy look out of a pick and roll. Maymon missed the shot. I'm not sure I saw what you saw.

I love Maymon's aggressiveness so far. He scores best by driving to the basket and off rebounds and put backs. If he can improve the mid range game, as well as scoring from the post, he could be pretty special.

I'd agree with all of that except that I wish he would've gotten the team's attention when we were up 2 in the 1st OT and settled for 3's or Golden went to the basket looking for the foul (and he probably gets it in the 1st half) and threw up a wild shot.

We had our chances to win that one. I hate it for the kids. They played their asses off and Golden's poor shot in the 1st OT led to a Memphis run out and a quick basket to tie it. That is how Memphis scored most of their points were off of a bad shot and they would get a run out.

I thought we flat out gave them the game. It was ours to win in the 1st OT and bad decision making by mainly Golden led to the loss. Hate it for the team, but we'll get better. Should've been a W though.

There's so much to be excited about, but I can't lie...a win would have been huge for Cuonzo and the entire team in general. I wanted this one bad, but I wanted it even more after seeing how hard these guys were fighting.

It's crazy to think...we're only 4 games in and we are this close to being a really good team.

I don't know how anyone can be critical of that performance. What an outstanding job. Even if some players were off and some calls might have been handled differently this was a great game - coached and executed.

IMO Memphis has much better athletes than Duke.

I hope the way Maymon treated our bigs today makes them take a long, hard look in the mirror when they put their uniforms on tomorrow. Maymon was the hammer today, they were the nail.

You're right. Duke is just so friggin disciplined and they execute the gameplan to perfection. Definitely beatable though.

I have to say I've been pretty impressed with the freshmen. I expected Maymon to to be an occasional 12 and 10 guys last year and he disappointed. He's been absolutely fantastic this year. 32 and 20 is ridiculous, people will definitely know his name now. The guard play was pretty disappointing, especially Golden obviously but despite everything we were still in the position to win. Definitely nice to see the half-time adjustments pay off. Tough, tough game to lose but this team is certainly making a statement and garnering respect.

If we can rebound like that every game then we should have a chance in every game. Wish we would've thrown some zone on there at some point but whatever.

Really? We couldn't even get ball in bounds.

Yes. The first play drawn up had Maymon open for a layup. Trae Golden chose to burn another timeout rather than throw it. There are only so many plays that can be drawn up for an under the goal situation. Memphis will switch every screen; deny every pass. It would be an incredibly difficult inbounds no matter what was called. I about tossed the tv out the window because Golden missed Maymon on the first out of bounds play.

I'm not sure there's a good way to manage 3.1 seconds. It's bound to turn out ugly.

:hi: I didn't catch that.
