Game Thread: (#11/10) Lady Vols 80 - Oklahoma State 55

Striplin and Kaiya I feel just needs more minutes to settle down and figure out their role but they are good players
I think instead of playing with the subs they need to get about four or five minute stints with the core group. I mean Kaiya could do this as a sub for Dye and Striplin could sub in for Greene or even Key for four or five minutes. I think you learn your role faster and get better quicker when playing with the main starters. Four starters and Wynn or four starters and Striplin is not going to affect the game to much. No way they are going to do that much damage. Actually Wynn has scored 13 points and 8 rebounds in 42 minutes of play. I think the six turnovers in 42 minutes is her biggest negative. 4 for 11 from the field thus far. Verhulst number 12 player for Louisville is 4 for 15 in her freshman career thus far playing a lot more minutes. Striplin 6 points and 6 rebounds in 21 minutes is acceptable as well. Hopefully they get in more Wednesday and the home games coming up after Va. Tech.

Surprisingly, Massey has TN as pretty big underdogs at Tech next weekend - only 32% chance to win. I know tech is ranked but their wins don’t look quality.

Herhoops also has us as 4.5 underdogs against VT. I think VT is overrated in these statistical models based on blowing out weak competition.

People complaining and harboring on Jordan's turnovers i didn't realize this... I believe Jordan wants her turnovers to go down more than anyone but DANG that's great sign to how she is impacting games!

If you’re impacting the game to the tune of +35 you can have those turnovers and they don’t matter one dang bit lol.

No doubt every game of Jordans is a double-double (or better) in waiting. When she lets the game come to her, she shoots a much better percentage. She has a ton of raw talent she is still working to develop but I wonder if she is turning the corner now that she is having to fill Rae's shoes.

Great insight by Coach Harper about Karoline learning to play against bigger players. This was something she didn't have to do much in high school or even in this game. She can make free throws would love to see her get to the line almost an automatic two. She is a post player that can flourish at the free throw line. Karoline matches any player on the team including Rae at the line. When she learns how to draw fouls with attempting shots inside she will be a huge scorer for us. It will be next year before we see most of that happen, but she is going to be an excellent player for us inside in the future and maybe later this season.

she'll get there,,,just has to have court time.
when she is on the court, even for a couple of minutes, she impacts the game while on the floor

I think her development could and should look a lot like Megan Gustafson from Iowa a few years ago. Once she adjust to the size and gets a better counter move she could be a beast. Don’t think she’d be our go to like Gustafson was for Iowa, but she could make a good living in the post. She runs the floor hard and posts hard and early every time. That bodes well for her future. It’s hard to get young ladies to consistently post up like that if they aren’t getting the ball. Karo doesn’t care though, she gets down and puts her body on someone. Helps so much because it keeps her defender very occupied and takes them out of help side.

Gustafson was also a wonderful FT shooter and made a living at the line. Great finisher too.
