Game Thread: #11 Lady Vols at #15 Kentucky. Thursday, Feb. 27, 7pm ET, SECN.

Everyone knows this was a horrible loss to Kentucky but after Lady Vols handle business vs Georgia Sunday, Lady Vols will end with a 22-7 regular season. Now how many thought CKC would accomplish that feat with a bunch of new players and a few holdovers while running a system that none of the players had ever been in?

Honestly, a 9-7 SEC record and a 6 - 8 seed in the SEC tourney is exactly what almost everyone predicted. Also to be honest, the win total was padded by a God awful non conf sched.

I still think CKC's done a great job, the win over UConn was awesome, and this team still has a ton of potential. And a top class coming in. So anything else that happens this yr is gravy.

Good stuff right here let’s keep talking!
I feel this is an important situation to grow from at the right time in the season. It’s not about recruiting class or anything down the road. Tonight is about accountability and reflection.
Every possession matters this late in the season.
Tonight, it was a lot of miss shots, coaching errors, and a lack of a sense of urgency that caused this setback. Defense is all effort. Takes no talent to play tough defense.
I saw Favor Ayodele as a post player force a turnover when she stepped on the court late in the 4th qtr that only Alyssa Latham makes consistently at the 4 and 5 spot. I’ve said from day 1 play Ayodele because she’s always going to give you winning defense. She’s out the rotation and it’s the coaching staff called so at this point scoring 58 points relying on offensive minded senior players off the bench and starting in key roles to carry your system can’t be accepted. They can’t ever go scoreless playing 15 to 20 minutes a game while one of best defensive players is out of the rotation. That’s where the issue has to be resolved by Sunday.

#3 ND loses to #24 Florida St @ ND. Just goes to show you , bad games happen. This is the same Florida St team that our LV's beat.

Kim's fine and so are the LV's. It's like you all expected to win a NC this year. We're a good team that can beat anybody when we're on. It'll take her 2 recruiting classes or 1 and a GREAT portal class to compete for tirles.

Well, it WAS a blistering @ss whupping, but not a horrible loss to get an L on the home court of a top 15 team. Maybe you just meant horrible in that the score was so lopsided.

Kansas State stayed in the top-16 after two double digit losses after the Feb 16th reveal.

Ohio State stayed in despite a loss to unranked Indiana.

I think we’re good if we win Sunday and next Thursday.
Kansas State is tied for 3rd in the Big 12.
Ohio State is 3rd in the Big 10.
Tennessee is 8th in the SEC right now...might rise to 6th.

That was one possession. Let's let CKC play tge players that she deems needs to play. She's earned that , at least she has imo.

And playing more and doing less with those minutes is warranted how? Favor started last season at Pittsburgh. If she can provide this team with a spark of defense, rebounding, and energy then I’ll continue to highlight that whether it’s one possession or several.

I’m getting set to watch the replay of the Tennessee vs Kentucky game. It’s time to compete night in and night out.
No more projecting and trial errors.
Based on my analysis of this game, Favor Ayodele needs to move into the 10 player rotation. Two of the four defensive players between Boyd, Cooper, Latham, and Ayodele need to be on the court at all-times to effectively run the full court press for four quarters.
That’s my opinion.

If she could she would be playing. Di you think CKC keeps players on tge bench that can help? Surely your smarter than that. Do you watch practices or just the one possession your speaking of. Come on, you have to know better. No coach would keep someone on the bench that could help.

The defensive energy Alyssa Latham played with in this game was outstanding. Hopefully moving forward Latham gets more minutes with the regular starters. If Latham eventually gets back into the starting lineup that’ll be an advantage in terms of defense and rebounding. I still think that our best lineup is Spearman, Whitehorn, Latham, Spencer, and Coopee. It could open up minutes for Ayodele who has the defensive grit and intangibles to be an x-factor. There were positives from tonight’s game after watching the replay.
GBO!

We as fans have been asking for this but why doesn’t then coach see it. She rather play ppl who don’t want to play defense or rebound. Latham never takes a play off.

I am on Team Latham, for sure. And earlier in the season I was excited about the super tough Ayodele. But for whatever reasons (I would love to know them) Kim has chosen not to give Favor more than a minute or two, if any at all, for most of the season. She only got 4 tonight in a clear blowout that was an obvious opportunity for the staff to give extended 4th-quarter minutes to those who don't get any in the tight matchups. Yet, she only got four.

The point is, I'm thinking if Kim hasn't played her up to now, unfortunately I don't see her getting more minutes as things get even tougher and more urgent. I hate it 'cause she looked like she could have been a Keyen Green-type player.
