Game Thread: #11 Lady Vols at #18 Fla St; Thurs Nov 9, 6PM

Oh great, are you going to be this butthurt over pt for your fave all the time? If you watched that battle tonight and thought a single one of our warriors were selfish prima donnas, I suggest you find a new hobby. This is not for you.
Why do u keep being her up I literally haven’t once. Ur more of a hater than anything and mad at my perspective. If u watched any of our games we literally just look for our own shot. We haven’t had a 20+ assist game yet. We’re saved by offensive rebounding. And yes defense is a TEAM effort. We need some to fall back and focus more on it.

I said this about everyone. Enjoy the loss I guess. I really don’t care who plays if we actually look like some are bought in on D. But your infatuation/obsession with a player u don’t like is ugly and not a dis on me.

You can't fall behind good teams by 12/14/16 points and expect to win. We do this constantly--there is a definite pattern of having
a crap quarter in the first half, falling well behind--then the 3rd quarter rally we've seen many times, and then falling short in the 4th. This
loss was emblematic of the way we've been losing for 15 years. Actually, it wasn't as bad as most of our losses in recent years, but it still
was another loss. We've got a nice mix of talent, and its very early in the season, obviously, but we've simply go to stop having bad quarters
and start winning these games.

Tough decision as to whether to call a TO or not. If you do, you let the other team set the D. If you don’t, you run the risk of a poor O play. That’s one of those situations where armchair QBs are gonna question the decision if the result is not a win.

We got a good shot just didn’t execute down the stretch.

Any shot at a 1 seed is already off the table and it’s game 2. And Kellie never pulls seed upsets in the tournament. So this will not be the team to end the Final Four drought.

We may not ( and probably won’t) get a 1 seed but it’s ludicrous to be saying this one loss has knocked us out of any chance.

Hollly’s offense = Terrrrrrribleee

Harpers offense = Terrribleee

Use the damn timeout and get the ball in the right hands . You can’t take a timeout to the lockeroom at the end of the game Kelly idc what the faves say here she lost this game . We still got 33 to go but I’m not convinced or confident in our future with these type of games and or decisions from our leaders .
TO lets them set defense and requires getting the ball back in. If we only had the one left and then had trouble inbounding the ball after taking the last TO the armchair QBs on here would be screaming Kellie took her last TO!

Tonight's loss is not only concerning, it is highly troubling. With the core players returning from last year, we are still seeing the same tendencies over the last 2, if not 3 years; slow start, lack of consistent on ball defensive pressure by guards, defensive lapses on the perimeter, and inconsistent dominant play at the 5. Yes, it's very early, but these issues have been ongoing. This program does not scare anybody anymore, we have good players, but we don't have elite difference makers with the possible exception of Jackson, who's more of a scorer. This team does not play with a mindset to not just win, but with a mindset to dominate opponents. We need to find, create, or forge an identity for this program and team. No, I don't believe the season is lost, but defensive upgrades are needed as soon as possible, because we are not keeping pace with LSU and SC. There is just too much talent on this roster for the performance displayed tonight.

Great game! Both teams were exhausted in the 4th quarter. Tennessee's offense is at mid season form. Tennessee's defense is not. Need work on free throw shooting (obiviously). Darby's tech stopped the game and flipped momentum. Rickea's rebound with 24 seconds remaining should have sealed the game. Tie game with shot clock off; no need to rush!
We are a very good team and will get better!

Six months since last played. Where has the off season conditioning been? Inexcusable.

What are you talking about? This is simply not true. We have some great scorers, but they aren't selfish. RJ had 4 assists to go with her 31 pts. Not good enough for ya?

I don't "dislike" you're fave. I think w a bit of conditioning and polish, she will contribute. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I do notice you diss everyone who plays ahead of her lol. Enough of that crap tho, let's move on.

You do know it is the second game of the year right?
Announcers were impressed by the level of play by both teams this early in the year.
Yes, I’m aware. But you still need to make layups in the clutch. Regardless of it being the “2nd game of year,” I was disappointed with the last possession.

It doesn’t mean I don’t like this team.

It’s like that Dr Pepper commercial “maybe we overreacted “🤣
I think we are overreacting to the loss. FSU is ranked number 18 and we are ranked number 11, what we be saying if we were number 1 and got beat by the number 20 team in the nation? We would be beyond rabid and foaming at the mouth. We got beat by a good team, we made mistakes and our coach along with LSU’s coach have a lot of work to do. For one thing we really need Key in the post protecting the rim.

I took some time to gather my thoughts.. for a moment I felt that the team had figured it out.
They played solid basketball for a stretch during the 3rd qtr up until less than a minute in the 4th.
Was aggressive on both ends.
Big time winning 50/50 plays could’ve sealed the victory and were right there for multiple players.. and these weren’t high degree of difficulty plays.
I’m not going to single anyone out.. yet if you’re competing for a championship you have to execute in those moments cause you don’t get any do-overs.
They played hard. Gave themselves a chance to win.
These are the times to really support the team.
At one point during a highlight, the camera switched to Talaysia Cooper and you can see in her face how bad she wants to play while taking it all in.
She knows she can help this team win.
She’s always been a winner and this team has multiple players that have been successful from high school to college.
This team just has to find a way to get over the hump.
Tonight was not that moment.

A lot of discussion tonight concerning Coach Harper's decision not to use her last time out with 24.6 seconds remaining. The consensus is that was a mistake. Maybe. Playing the devil's advocate, here is another perspective.
Harper clearly indicated no when players asked if they should call time out. So, it was not a mistake of indecision. We knew what we were doing.
Flordia State's players like ours were exhausted. Calling time out would have given FSU time to rest, hydrate and regroup. I hope our plan was to go quickly and take advantage of FSU's fatigue. Unfortunately, Powell got stalled above the nail and we settled for a last shot.
After our last time out with 50 + seconds we struggled to get the ball in from that side inbounds. Close to a 5 second call.
Our offense was as efficient as any game in recent memory. We scored 91. No need for a special" play. Malpractice would have been claimed if any player other than Jackson got the last shot. Jackson got a good shot; it just didn't drop.
If we had made the shot, and FSU had countered. Now you need a time out to advance the ball with under 10 seconds.

You can go either way but not using a time out at 24.6 to advance the ball is not a bad decision.

They were tonite .....did you watch the VA Tech /Iowa game tonite ? I would guage that both the Lady Vols and FSU are equal to or better than either Iowa or Va Tech.
Speaking of Iowa, Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly a great basketball player, but she is most definitely a ball hog and a prima donna. She doesn't get called for way too many offensive fouls such as pushing off on the drive, and draws non-existent fouls on the opposing players because of her name and reputation.

You can’t worry about players that can’t play, and when she plays Rickea will be gone so it won’t help at that point, we will be starting over unless some elite number one players transfers here but I doubt it.

What are you talking about?
Rickea J and Tennessee will both survive when that time comes.
Stop taking everything to the extreme.
