Game thread: #15 Lady Vols host #18 Alabama, Thurs., Feb 20, 6:30 ET, SECN+

The upside for Latham is so high and she is starting to show it on the court with the extra playing time she is getting. Getting better on not fouling which allows her to play more. She is a tenacious defender. I see Latham, Spearman, Boyd, Cooper, and Spencer on the floor I know our defense is elevated more than any other five we can put out there.
I also see an unlimited potential for Alyssa

Usually some of those home run over the top passes go to far and end in a turnover in the men's games but so far we have not had that fortunate overthrow. Not sure if its lucky on spot passes or the girls don't have the arm to overthrow.
Yep, women lack the skill and athleticism to throw inaccurate passes like the men do.

I am sure men's coaches say this in every practice. "Hey, Smith, quit throwing like a girl with those spot on passes, chuck that ball 20 feet past em..."

Our Q1 and Q 2 record is 9 and 6. Duke ranked 8th in net is 9 and 7. They have lost to two Q2 teams. They only have four Q1 wins. I don't have an explanation why they are ranked 11th in the country and 8th in the Net. Common opponent they lost to UConn by 13 we won by 4. They lost to Sc by 11. They did win over Oklahoma. We have five Q1 wins they have 4. So I'll wait and see if we get any movement, but after two losses they are holding the 8 spot in the net remains to be seen where they go in the polls next week.
No idea why they are doing with them as #11 in the polls, but Net Rankings are just a different type of efficiency metric they use to determine the quadrant system. There is a strong correlation, but tournament seeding is ultimately based off the resume.

UConn was #2 in NET last year and was a 3 seed. USC was #10 and got a 1 seed. On the men's side, Auburn was #5 in Net last year and was a 4 seed in the tournament.

I just keep thinking about what a great win that was last night. Kristy Curry is an excellent coach -- one of the top 10, maybe top 5 IMO -- and she had a terrific game plan. My friend and I had to just throw our heads back and laugh when she called that surprise play that had SAB sprint down court at full speed to receive the long pass for the easy layup. Great play! I wondered if she'd try that exact play again later, but figured she might have had that in her pocket to be used once. It was a terrific play that they'd obviously prepared well to execute.

Anyway, I know everyone here understands well what a good win that was against a very strong team. Alabama could have a really good post-season.

AND SO WILL TENNESSEE. 🧡💪🏻

I know it has been discussed over and over, but let me say that the crowd at TBA@FCC was royally ticked off for most of last night over the maaaaaaany bogus calls. Lots more boos last night than usual. And yes, there were a few phantom fouls called on Alabama, too, but it seemed like things went 75/25 their way last night. I truly believe the Lady Vols would have won by 20-plus if not for all the momentum-stopping, breathing-breaks-to-Bama-giving, ridiculous officiating.
I hope you didn't overhear the F Bomb I actually yelled out...."you got to be ------- kidding me" after a few outrageous calls in a row. I don't usually do this and had a bit of a self-talk session with myself to calm down, but it truly is a sign of how horrible some of the calls were.

🤣😂🤣😂 I heard lots of "pointed comments" from angry fans, including from my own mouth. My friend must have also yelled "You have GOT to be effing kidding me!" 15 times yesterday. 😂

We let a few of those bad situation plays happen not playing with urgency with the big lead. This team and many players are still growing from game to game. It's great to see how far the team and players have grown this year. Hope we start playing better when the other team makes a run when we have a double digit lead . Hope we catch fire in the NCAA tournament. GLV 💥

Curry ? A top 5 coach? In what world? One final four in 2001with Nell’s and Carolyn’s leftovers? Please stop.

Tennessee won this game comfortably last night without playing close to its best basketball which is a sign of outstanding coaching and talent.
Tennessee had too many athletes for Alabama.
Kaniya Boyd and Alyssa Latham off the bench were more athletic than Alabama starters.
This is another showcase at what Boyd and Latham can do every game against any opponent.
Alyssa Latham has the most upside of any player on this talented roster.
All of the propaganda about Alabama players being an asset or needed on this Tennessee team was severely exposed.
If they can’t make Alabama a FF contender then it’s not much they do at Tennessee playing behind better skilled players on this current Top 10-15 FF LV roster.
GBO ‘solid’!
Latham??
