*Game Thread* #4 Ole Miss at South Carolina

NO! he suffered a rib contusion in the 1st quarter which probably contributed to a so-so game tonight, but he is nowhere near as bad as crompton, an level headed UT fan will tell you that. . . . I hope

At the moment, I'd take Garcia over Crompton...though neither guy has accomplished anything of note in their college football careers.

South Carolina doesn't impress me at all. They look like the same 7-5 team they've always been under Spurrier.

I will say this though -- I think Tori Gurley will go on to have a better pro career than any Spurrier-coached receiver before him...at SC or at Florida.

totally off topic, but I couldn't believe Spurrier mentioned UK in a positive light in the interview right after the game. He usually buries us with snide remarks that make everyone here hate him. When she asked "how does it feel to finally beat a top 5 team here at home" he said "Well, we beat Kentucky here a few years ago."

Given the fact that we were ranked 7th that year, thats not entirely correct. But I'm still in utter disbelief that he did it. lol

either way, I still hate him. Death to the infidel.

kentucky should have been ranked that high either.

You don't say? :)

It was definately too high. Good for the school and the fans. They beat some big teams that year. But, definately ranked to high to soon I think. Had they won that game and finished strong against UT or FLorida then maybe. Otherwise, they were probably 12-15 I guess.

Eh, early season rankings are often weird. There is a very strong argument that teams deserving of top-anything rankings don't wind up a game over .500 in the Music City Bowl.

UK's schedule generally starts off very weak and then gets much tougher as the year wears on, giving opportunity for overranking. That's not a criticism, mind you, just a quirk of fate. UT's toughest challenges are generally behind them by the last week in October.

I'm sure this was mentioned, but, how do you come out of a time out on 4th down with 12 men on the field...? and not one of the 12 is your best offensive weapon (dexter mcluster). Those coaches should be fired.

worst part is the chickens are going to be all full of themselves and we're going to have to hear it for a week.

And espn said spurrier's finally gotten the "signature win he needed" so for a while they'll start pumping him again.

...and I bet they'll throw this out like crazy on the recruiting trail now

Ole Miss will never be a "signature win."

People forget that South Carolina beat Ole Miss last year, in Oxford. Ole Miss also dropped ball games to Vandy and Wake.

They've gotten a ton of mileage out of that upset over Florida. It's crazy.

As well as that dismantling of Texas Tech... which is even worse.
