Game Thread: (5/6) Lady Vols 84 - (19/20) Kentucky 58

Lady Vols did a great job closing out that half; stopped Kentucky defensively, which is great considering how Howard was looking the first fifteen minutes, and capitalized on offense. Three of Kentucky's losses are to Indiana/South Carolina/Louisville, so leading them by 11 at the half is nothing to sneeze at.

Jordan Horston having a subpar game, but Dye and Burrell picked her up with stellar play. The one really limited area of our team is capable post players. After Key were not that great inside.

Were in deep trouble if Key is injured badly. Wow that is so depressing.

For a tall team, we are a little limited in size with our immediate back-ups at center unless Saunders plays. Greene won't get it done at that position in the SEC except as a change of pace. Striplin is raw still and plays a little smaller than her size. Puckett could probably get some minutes there and do fine. It would be center by committee.

The thing with UK, Howard cannot win the game by herself. That’s been Kentucky’s downfall since she’s been there. However, I like our consistency and balanced approaches when scoring.
Let’s hope the wide open threes we seem to be giving up don’t start falling for KY in the second half…that hopefully was noticed and will be addressed at the half.

Green can step it up. Holding Horston off till the fourth quarter when she’ll make Howard miserable…

Well hopefully Key will be ok. Kellie was on the court practically before play stopped. Then she looked like she was going to throw up.

Let's see Horston step up after a tough first half. I believe she will.

Dye getting it done, we are so lucky to have so many "pieces".

Rae! Safe to say she feels a part of flow again.

Concerned about Walker, but she does continue to make big baskets, including the occasional timely 3. We need her to play well so that Horston does not have to handle.

Interesting set of Ds on Howard. Seems everyone was on her at some point until Rae settled in. I would say Howard will never continue hitting at this clip but then I did watch the men's game yesterday . . .

Not sure about Puckett’s defense or handles…
