Game Thread: (7/8) Lady Vols 70 - Ole Miss 58

Great first half… Horston settled down and is playing really well.

Really the entire team settled and looked great in that second quarter. Miles coming in mid-way through the first changed the game. Her defensive intensity put them on their heels. Then some great coaching adjustments and they got really stagnant.

Do refs not call moving screens. Some Ole Miss players are straight moving forward a few steps into our players to set a screen. One was so obvious I scared the dog yelling so loud. I just don't understand not calling OBVIOUS moving screens.
Regardless of all that impressive first half. That's with nothing from Rae or Walker. GLV!

They aren’t calling them because their players are skinny. It’s been egregious though. Scott in particular is basically still running when setting screens at the top of the key.

I'm guessing Ole Miss hasn't played an overly rigorous schedule up to this point. Just a hunch.

They haven’t but they have been blowing out the cupcake teams they’ve played (30, 40 point wins). They’ve beaten power5 programs Texas Tech, California, and Florida and knocked off ranked USF. Just like the Texas A&M game, that makes what we’re doing even more impressive!

This Lady Vol team is the most elite we’ve had in many, many years.

Ole Miss looked stunned, I think. It surprised me a little to see that since they handled South Florida so well, but then I remembered they probably haven't faced anyone who plays good defense AND has good size.

Tennessee is lookin' good today, but they'd better be ready to take Ole Miss's best shot in the second half. They can't relax!!!!

Mickey Dearstone weighed in on the referees with a deliciously wicked line.
Ole Miss was at the foul line, and evidently there was some moisture on the floor that one of the referees took a towel to.

Mickey, referring to the referee by name, noted the obvious delay in the game by observing,
"________ ____ providing the housekeeping duties ... Good to know she has career options should one career not work out..."
