I thought they would play better, I guess it is hard to get into a rhythm when you giving the ball to the other side

Out of everything what stands out to me are

1-10 on 3s by Ohio State. That is their MO and we are absolutely running them off the line. Something we have struggled with for YEARS against good 3 point shooting teams. Powell is a game changer for us on both ends, but her ability to guard the high ball screen is so far her biggest asset.

And 25-17 on the boards. Hitting the glass as usual, especially Jordy, and you can see that extra 4”.


With Key back in the second half I think we can open it up. Need to keep it up defensively, not turn the ball over, and get it inside to the big girl some.

Solid lead considering that Tamari played 1 min in the half. The added post depth is making a huge difference.

The offense looks good, and Horston is pretty much unstoppable when she's given just an inch of space to drive. Defense looks good. They're doing a great job of staying in Sheldon and Mikesell's face. The bad side is that the turnovers are inexcusable. Disappointing that it's still been an issue. Many of those were just sloppy. Hopefully they clean it up in the 2nd half. I figure that they'll really bust the game open once Key comes back in, unless she puts herself on the bench again quickly.

Right on track for an 82-69 -ish final score for Tennessee.

That last possession was a result of not getting the ball to your Point Guard and letting her run the offense. Our execution with seconds waning on the clock was poor in the 1st H.

A very good plan actually. Give Jillian a few minutes and tell her to get after it. Then let TK eat down the stretch.

I’m confused with all of this complaining.. Ohio State is a good team. I guess it’s obvious by now this board values recruiting services rankings and covets HS players before they ever step foot on a college campus.. but it makes absolutely no sense to expect in game 1 for Tennessee to be up by 20 on the road against a team that made the Sweet 16 last season. The LVs have pushed it to a 10 point lead twice and that’s a great sign. This game is a true test. I’m proud of how the LVs are fighting as a team. Every sport is about more than just talent & even coaching. The heart of a championship team is what separates them. It’ll take heart and will to come out with the win tonight.

If KJH can’t get a handle on these turnovers, the Ladies are going to have a tough time being a potential championship team. A lot of the turnovers are needless turnovers. It has cost us 14 points. This team has the ability to run OSU off the court if they can cure their mistakes and fouling.

Fortunate that Ohio State is not shooting well. Horston is a beast! Franklin is just a shell of her former self. Maybe in next 3 months she will regain some mobility.

We’re hustling, but too many careless passes, too many fouls called. We have 5 players with at least 2 fouls, one with 3. Still, glad the OS 3 was late, and we need halftime to regroup. We have plenty to work on, but this is the first game, and it’s away, against a good team. Good thing we have the depth we have.
