Game Thread: LADY VOLS AT NO. 16/14 NOTRE DAME

What is that fulkin circle for they have called two charges with players for Notre Dame no where near in it. Supposed to be a block outside the circle. Second to many turnovers Burrell can't play if she is gonna turn it over four times in three minutes.
You're backwards on your thinking.

So far I like what I see. This team plays as a defensive unit. They rotate into help-side and seem much more disciplined on that end than they have in years. They don’t leave each other hanging out to dry.

The announcers won’t give us an inch. Everything is “oh well, ND lost so much from a year ago.”

We have a whole new coach, lost our leading scorer on the year to an ACL tear right before this game. Play 5 players pretty heavy minutes who had never played a game for the program before. And we managed to out-rebound them by 20 and take an 8 point lead into the half. Even with home cooked officiating (as we all expected). They still have 5 star talent and a hall of fame coach.

Even if we get this win we will get no credit for it and I hope that pisses these girls off and makes them hungry.

ACL for Zaay tough blow for her and the team.

Only plus is that she has a coach who has been there, done that. She’ll know what to say, how to help her rehab and how to encourage her and make her useful as a leader while she’s out. Breaks my heart though, I love watching Zaay play.

The silver lining with Zaay’s injury is it helps define Rae’s role. She’s our bench energy player now and hopefully will be forced to play more disciplined as the season progresses.

I love Burrell and she’s done a couple of nice things in this game. But she’s been far too clumsy too many times to play much in the 2nd half unless she cleans it up a bit.

I think she’s pressing because Zaay is out. She’s so talented, but she needs to take a deep breath and let it come naturally. She’s always trying to force things. Either it’s there in transition or you need to wait and see what the defense gives your TEAM instead of forcing it yourself.

She always presses!

I don't believe Notre Dame will shoot 24% from 3 or 28% from the field in the second half. They will come out better focused. Tennessee's rebounding edge has kept them in the lead, and if they want to leave with a W they will have to come up with another 25 rebounds in the second half. That and avoid any foul trouble on key players.
