Game Thread Lady Vols at Rutgers

We have the worst form on our layups of any team I have seen past middle school.

It is obvious we do not teach proper technique. I started counting well after the game started and we have missed five layups so far. We have used every half-assed technique to try to hit those but the proper one. I have seen balls brought one handed from down by the knees to shoving the ball with both hands from the chest straight up in the air like a toddler who isn't strong enough to shoot the ball that high.

Typical ugly UT vs Rutgers game.

Our rebounding and Rutgers poor shooting is keeping us close. If we could shoot even 40% we would be way ahead.

Our players should be thinking about who they're going to pass it to before they get the ball and they always seemed surprised when they get a pass.

Are they playing in a high school gym somewhere?

Surely that is not a college arena. It says Big Ten on the floor which I think must be the seating capacity.

This is absurd. It's absolutely up to the player when she is able to play. The only one who really knows how Jannah's knee feels, is Jannah. Just because she has been medically cleared, doesn't necessarily mean she's ready for game action.

Playing time is a privilege. Every player wants to be on the court. When Holly punishes players as she did at the beginning of the season what did she do? She took away games. Why would Jannah hold herself out unless she really didn't feel up to game action yet? She has been out for two years, not two weeks.

If Holly has been wishy-washy it has been in disclosing Jannah's punishment.... how many games, when they started counting, etc.... which seems to change every game.
Coaches still take validity in a physician's insight on the situation. I never said or implied that Jannah was, on purpose staying on the sideline. So before you go on a soap box that is not something I would not say because I do not feel that any player worth their salt would do such a thing. I simple would like for Holly to say in an interview that in conjunction with the medical staff, Jannah will not play until she feels that she is able to do so. I certainly did not want to get your bowels in an uproar. This young lady hasn't played in two years one would assume that she is ready to get on the court. Whether, you believe it or not it is never strictly up to the soul judgement of players if and when they comeback unless the team medical staff agrees or disagrees. I can only speak from the prospective of a high school coach and not a college coach.

Massengale had very poor form on that last shot. She split her legs and leaned trying to hit a wide open jump shot. No one is working with these girls.

Jasmine Jones has been an offensive bright spot so far, but she was a complete disaster in the last 40 seconds, and that really revived RU's offense.

Save that timeout there Holly. You can staple it to your resume' when you are looking for your next job.

Rutgers is collapsing anytime we go inside and Holly just can't figure out how to feed the pass out to an open three. However, she is coaching a better game so far.
