Game Thread Lady Vols at Stanford

my starters would be, DD, KD, AC, MR, and Nia Moore. Graves would be able to come in in relief of Moore, KD or Russell.

Jaime and Moore can play tonight.

She is going with Carter at the point, Reynolds, Deshields, Russell, and Graves to start the game.

Lineups: Lady Vols at Stanford

With these as starters and if they play an extended amount of time ,Stanford should win in double digits. Why anyone would start Reynolds is beyond my comprehension,,,,,she has had one good game in 3 years

Stanford has always played up to competition. I also put a lot of stock in their coaching staff. This team has brought down UCONN a couple times in the regular season (home floor of course).

The tree's don't stand around a lot, and you should see a nice triangle offense spread.

If these 2 things happen tonight, guarantee we win:

1) balance offense. Need 3+ players to score 12+ or more
2) guard the 3 pointers and keep them under 36%

I don't think we will be able to pull the win off.

Reynolds seems to be way up the list for Holly. Her play has been horrible on both ends of the floor. Let us hope she plays better tonight.

now now now now you guys. tisk tisk!
Reynolds does a great job of catching the in-bound pass and running full speed up the court and coming to a complete stop against the 2-3 zone and passing it to the wing.
It's clear there isn't this level of 'comfort' she has any more when she took over some games for us. We have seen glimpse of her shine, we all remember the KY game where she took over. I just don't think the coaching staff wants to see that from her.

I am going out on a very weak limb, but I can see the Lady Vols winning this one. Russell will have problems with their post because she is very aggressive. They also shoot the threes which mean we must be prepared for them to attempt several threes.

When they played Texas, McCarty had a field shooting just about any where she wanted to. You drive on this team. Te'a, if under control, can have a very good night.

You know we will get zoned so we may have to create shots and not go inside every, most, freaking time. This game should give us some idea how we will do against Oregon State.

If we lose two games in a row I believe the chemistry, what little it is, will get worse. I can then see us losing against the following SEC teams:
1. USC
2. Kentucky
3. A&M
4. Missouri
5. Mississippi State

The next two games are crucial if Holly is to maintain control of her players. If The Lady Vols lose the next two games I think that basketball experts, except the ones on this sight, will question Holly's coaching abilities and how she can lose with so much talent around her. I believe that will pressure administration to act one way or another about Holly.

I'm most worried about the referees. I can't remember if it was 2 years ago or 4 but the officiating was the worst, one sided game I can remember in women's college basketball.

Close behind that is our dismal offense and turnover woes.

But fwiw we spanked them last year and they haven't looked very good this year so far IMO.

If this team plays well...they only lose by 10...and if they play poorly...they lose by 20+...More than 16 turnovers will guarantee a loss...guards dribbling around aimlessly and not penetrating in an effort to get to the free throw line, resulting in only 6-8 trips to the charity line adds icing to the cake. Good floor spacing and the use of crisp passing to get everyone involved in possessions would help...probably asking way too much of them...

Not even surprised that Reynolds is still in the starting line up, even with Nared back I just knew she was still going to give Reynolds the start.

Everybody available tonight except Jones and Middleton. Jones not even on the trip. Looking forward to see how this team reacts. Carter has been moved back to the point so let's hope she can get this team moving.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jasmine transfer as a graduate transfer after this year. Her Mom was really upset because the trainers had to be told to get up and go out on floor when she was down.

…and we seldom get calls to go our way.

I think the refs are intimated. That's one negative to Thompson Boling Arena that even though it's a home game, the fans do not make it intimidating for the players or refs IMO. I usually drive up to Knoxville for a game a year and I really get into it like I do at home or Titans games and yell and scream and let the refs have it. The grey hairs around me just look at me like I'm crazy or rub their ears because my yelling inconveniences them.

I can see us losing to Georgia and Vanderbilt too.

East Coast basketball is officiated very differently from West coast. It usually is much more physical in the east and the officials allow that.
