There have been a few. Wasn't the OG @governmentmule? IDK what happened to gm.

Rickster carried the torch for a while.
I believe that government mule sadly passed on from cancer. We are all eventually dust in the wind. Perhaps a good thing to recall when folks get too worked up about a sports thread :)

Don't quit your score prediction contest, @Coach Jumper. It's popular. Just run it here. No difference. All you have to do is collect the predictions in the game thread, make your spreadsheet, post it. Same as always.

You've done it before, 37620VOL. About 5 different people did last year and many others before that. @madtownvol most recently. One of you (or someone else) take it over, so I can bow out and USER=68113]@Coach Jumper[/USER] not have to feel like "my" thread is an offense to him. (It belongs to the board, not any one person, much less me.) Corch can keep his contest going just by posting in the thread. There's no reason the contest organizer needs to start the thread. Seems like that's a win for everybody. Including the people who couldn't see the thread.

LVs enter the Auburn game with two new milestones achieved.

The Lady Vols set a program record against LSU for made three-point field goals in a season. The LVs have recorded 245 made three-point attempts in 23 games, breaking the previous season-high of 242 during the 2010-11 season in 37 contests.

Ruby Whitehorn recorded her 1,000th career point in the game for Tennessee. She led the Lady Vols in scoring at LSU with 21 points.

I stepped in for 2 of them when the person doing them suddenly announced they were not going to. It works better when the same person can commit to it at least for a full season.

I will do a game thread on Tuesday evening if nobody objects and if nobody opts to take it on in the interim.

Orange, I don't do these threads for the glory,,,I do them bc I have been a fan of the lady vol org since I was 17 yrs old and have a true love for this program and the matriarch of it, Pat Summitt...Whom I sat with, talked to, learned from and respected. And bc when governmentmule could do it no longer and Rickster quit doing them. I stayed with it and will stay with it,,,if accepttable to this forum's posters.

I know I rub many of the posters the wrong way, but that is bc I post as a coach first and as a fan second. And I am a shoot-straight person...I am anything but easy.

If no one objects, I would love to continue doing the game threads

If we play like we played our last two games, we win this game going away. Hopefully we learned something from the Missouri game we have to play like we are the underdog and not make bonehead plays. We seem to play up for top ten competition but play down against lesser SEC competition as we did against Texas A and M and Missouri and to a great extent against Vandy. We must keep the pressure on and not give in.

UT can't be too mad at you for calling it Thompson-Boling since it's full name is Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center. Like you, at first I thought no way was I calling it Food City Center. I go to watch basketball games there, not to buy groceries. Harrrrumpf!! 😅

But then I began to soften as I saw how Food City has really stepped up, and continues to step up, with really nice renovations and upgrades. So over time I've gotten over all that initial criticism and now just appreciate the money they're putting into it. AND I spend more of my money at Food City now to show my appreciation for their support. 😀
This naming stuff is just over the top. What’s next?
Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center on the Pilot Oil Parking Lot with striping provided by your local TN Farm Bureau Insurance Agent.

I object. Because there are people who are excluded from the threads unless they are compelled against their wishes to unignore your posts. It's mean, bullying, and intentional.

Further, because the reasons you cite can 100% be accomplished equally as well by posting to a game thread started by anyone. (You would still love the LVs since 17, still have a true love of Pat.) There is no connection between those reasons and a need to start a thread as opposed to posing to it as often as you want. Are you saying that you as the thread-starter are the only one who loves the LVs and Pat or the one most loves them? Because you seem to be implying that you love them more than anyone else, and thus no one but you deserves to start a game thread. Preposterous.

It is touching that you feel a bond with govermentmule (RIP) but so do a lot of people here. If starting a thread is the only proper way to remember a poster, and you are the only one allowed to start the thread, then you are saying, in effect (whether you grasp it or not), that you want no one but ever be allowed to remember mule properly. And that would be ridiculous. You're just pulling at heart strings.

That (as you claim) you rub people the wrong way (and you seem quite proud of it) is not a merit, and it is certainly not a reasonable ground upon which to determine who is uniquely qualified start the threads.

That you insist that you are "not a fan" is, if anything, a disqualification for starting a thread on a fan board. And being "a coach" conveys no right to preempt anyone else's chance to start a thread. It doesn't make you any better than anyone else. That's a very weird flex on your part.

You repeatedly bring up the fact that you do not start the threads "for glory." But you have also maintained multiple times that anyone besides you who starts a game thread does so exactly "for glory." This strange fascination with "glory" and the envy of (wrongly inputed) "glory" seeking among others would strike most people as indicating that you do indeed want to start the thread a matter of glory. Why else would you continually harp on it and project your bizarre longing on to others?

In sum, your bizarre proposition that no one on VN but you could ever be as worthy as you to start a game thread is entirely without merit. Not for sentimental reasons, not for reasons of long fandom, especially not for the (contradictory) reason of not posting as a fan. And it is surely not a grounds for preferment that you lack tack, give every sign of taking pride in pissing people off (because it befits you as a coach, you seem to imply), and not because you are person who loves Pat best.

Anyone can start the game thread. There is no defect in the way I did it -- and many here, I would assume, could do an even better job. You are not needed.

Above all, I must insist that it is tyrannical of you to force other people to "unignore" you in order to access the forum's game threads. Especially when there is no other unique reason (as I have explained) for you to start the game thread. Everything you claim to desire in starting the thread is equally obtainable for you by posting to the thread as often as you like. How you would like. And also by being the organizer of the score prediction contest (which bears no relation to starting the thread, but adds fun). Non-coaches in every forum organize contests.

---
Now that I have read what you say here, and see that none of it makes sense, I am tempted to reconsider your strange fixation on "the glory" of being the one who starts game threads. And because you never stop talking about being a coach, I have to wonder whether you are linking "your" game threads to places outside this forum and using our game threads as (weird) evidence of your "glory." If you are using our game threads to try to establish your merit and "glory" as a coach outside of this board, you should have just said so. It seems like a weird thing for "a coach" to do. Since this is a fan board. And especially because you start the thread because you insist on it -- and NOT because it reflects in any way on this board's high estimate of your opinions or status.

None of this would ever have come up, to begin with, if several posters did not wish that you stop trying to force them to read your unsought opinions and to suffer your egomaniacal pretensions.

To repeat, you said "if nobody objects." I object.
