Just when it looked like Moss was becoming reliably strong, she's been tagged in the 1St in last two outings and pulled in first last two outings. Out pitching is not good enough.

Gabriel started gave up four runs and a three run homer. Moss came on and has pitched better but we got drilled today as pitching is most of softball and their ace has shut us down while our pitching gave us not much.

If I was a softball coach the first three players I would recruit would be the top pitchers I could get. I guess Erin was supposed to be a top pitcher but looks like injuries or something made her an average pitcher. We had a shot at Nunley of Kentucky and passed there. I think we have some very good pitchers coming and they can't get here soon enough.

Overstreet missed a two run homer by two feet in the first inning. None of our pitchers have shown anything today been a total collapse by two of them then the fielding collapsed on Gaffin.

This was one ugly day for us....

Gabriel was high and off the plate...Our hitters weren't.

Pitching has been our weakest point since Abbott left. If you are going to have a staff as weak as ours you need the hitting battery of Auburn to compensate if you want to be elite. Which we are not.

Impressive by OU even more when you consider the freshmen they are playing.

Just got in and and watched the so called game. I will say up front that for whatever reason we did not compete. Karen's interview she said that we did not hit, pitch or plan defense and you have to win 2 of the 3. I will add to that we were out coached as well!!
Erin starting was what I had thought would happen. Her change up killed her, but we have to remember she throws the pitches that are called by Karen. She was lucky to get out of the 1st inning scoreless. The line shot over Leaches head for the double and then the line drive to Leach that got the double play. Two of our best players made 2 errors each and I think 3 of them cost runs. The drive over Geathers head that she would tell anyone she should have caught could have been another error. Ralph having one of the slower players (Gaffin) stealing and being caught by 10 feet by a catcher who has given up only 8 stolen bases all year. Still think we should have had more right hand hitters in the lineup however CJ came through today. Aucoine took two strikes down the middle and then whiffed on a pitch over her head. At lease they put Lockman in who should play the rest of the way on first. McSwain never had to break a sweat from the right side. Overstreet held her own today. Matty did not look real bad, at least she had her always pumped up mentality. If Gaffin could control that worm burner she would be wonderful. Oklahoma today could have competed with anyone and they start more freshmen and sophmores than we do. I was expecting a better game from the ladies today. Just my 2 cents worth!

The poor pitching didn't surprise me. I felt OK would bash Erin or Rainey. I would have started Matty, but really it didn't matter.

The poor fielding and lack of hitting did surprise me. But I am most surprised that the team never responded. I thought they were mentally tougher than this.

Nothing much else to be said.

Flush it and move on.

One of those games were you just tip your hat to OU and flush it and move on...the LV will be better because of this one

I don't know what irritates me more...the fact that they got drilled, that it was Oklahoma, that they played so poorly, or that it was a sellout crowd and a national TV audience. Yuck.

Agree with everyone else. It seems that Oklahoma is better regardless of the sport, they have proved it when they had the chance.. You give me a team with a left handed power pitcher and I will take my chances. We showed that with Monica however we still have to score a run to win. I do not know if they are as good as Florida or Auburn but I think they are better than the rest of the SEC. Mark it down they will be in OK city. Should win out until Auburn and I would take 2 now. Ole ms may give us a problem there as well.

OU played 4 freshman and 4 sophomores today. They beat Alabama and Arkansas earlier in the season, that's the only other SEC teams on their schedule. They beat UCLA and Utah but lost to Washington and Oregon State in the PAC-12. They lost badly to Michigan. No other teams stand out on their schedule.

Apparently there was a lengthy team meeting after the game. Ralph says he's never seen them play so poorly and said OU coach Gasso told him her team had never played this well all season.

Ralph said the pitchers never hit their spots and OU's Parker never missed hers. He said Pendley's 3-run homer deflated them for some reason. He also said, are you ready for this..."I don't know what the answer is". I wonder where I've heard that before.

Our pitchers were far from excellent, the 3 run shot off Gabriel was right in the batter's wheelhouse, belt high and no movement or extra zip on the pitch...but the defensive support was much worse than the pitching. Take away what should have been 7-8 legitimate errors, not 4, and Gabriel, Moss, and Gaffin would have made the game at least competitive. Vines lets a ball get past her for extra bases, Geathers drops a rather easy fly in right field, shortstop boots an easy grounder and an easy pop up, 3rd base drops an easy pop fly in foul territory and misses a gound ball...even the Oklahoma pitcher would have been victimized by such poor defense! I'm convinced our pitching is good enough to compete with anyone if the defense shows up and plays. Defense prevented 1 or even 2 possible wins at Florida! They were terrible. Our players reacted as if the ball was covered with mosquitoes carrying the zika virus, lol.
