Ralph says the team is starting to jell. The hitters are more patient at the plate but then aggressive when they get their pitch. He said St. John's (the next opponent) is their defending conference champion and was in the NCAA regionals last season. That should be a tougher game. Look for Erin Gabriel to pitch that game.

We still do not have a dominating pitcher and do not see anyone developing into one this year. But hope that I am wrong on that count. The freshman pitcher ( forgot her name ) that started last nite looked like she had more juice ....faster ....than anyone of our other pitchers that I have seen this year....was that an illusion ?

But ,it appears to me that we will have to hit the ball well and consistently to win ( outscore ) the good teams in the SEC.

Moss can throw 68-70 mph. She is working on speed and location variance.

I think the pitching will be ok. Gabriel and Moss, if nobody else, with with Rainy in relief, will pitch very well this season. The fielding is another matter however.

So far this season the bats have clobbered poor or mediocre opponents. But the bats haven't covered up poor fielding or pitching against quality opponents. The team has three one-run losses against ranked teams, Arizona State, Arizona, and Alabama.

This has to change if the team is going to make a run at a national championship this season.

No one in the NCAA has a dominate pitcher those days are over....every pitcher can be hit nowadays

Out of the 13 SEC softball teams, the LVs are currently 7th in batting, 11th in pitching, 12th in winning % and dead last in fielding:
