Game Thread Lady Vols Softball Team week 9

A couple of interesting things happened in today's game.

Karen went and talked to the home plate ump who after a moment went and told somebody in the Georgia dugout to put away the video camera. Apparently it is against the rules to record game-action from the dugout.

Later, Karen had a longer conversation with the home plate ump about one of the Emanuel sisters stepping on home plate with her left foot as she reached out to swing at an outside pitch. (The batter is automatically out if they step on home plate). The replay showed Emanuel stepping over and in front of home plate, but not on it, on the previous play, so she was allowed to continue the at-bat. But I rewound and watched her previous at-bats and darned if her left foot didn't almost always land close to the plate as she stepped and I think grazed it a couple of times.

Karen knows her rules.

What is the official rule? Because clearly, at least from what I could see, her right foot was completely out of the batters box even though it was a foul ball. Does the rule only apply on fair balls?

Alabama gets run-ruled by A&M 14-1. :eek:hmy: Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky are now tied for third place in the loss column with 5 losses apiece. Lots of ball to be played but the door is open for a top four seed if the orange will take it.

I didn't pay attention to her right foot but her left was out of the box at least once. I think if any part of the foot is touching the batter's box then it's considered legal. Don't quote me on that. The commentators reported that Karen's conversation was about stepping on home-plate, not stepping out of the box, so who knows.

I thought the rule (whatever it is) applied regardless of fair or foul or a swing and a miss.

I just got in happy with the win. As I previously stated I would take 3 Matty Moss pitchers and head to the World Series. Sounds as she was just as impressive in the end of the game as in the start of her relief inning. I believe the foot touching any part of box is legal but I may be mistaken.
In my opinion we start Gabriel tomorrow and go from there. If see can stop walking the batter and get out of the 1st inning she will be fine. Gaffin has got to stay cool and give Overstreet a chance on catching or at least keeping the in the dirt pitch in front of her. These past balls have hurt us quite often. Moss can come back Monday or even tomorrow if needed . She is always pumped and it carries over to the team. Who knows what the Weekleys will do but I do not see Bush throwing in any Sec games at this point. I will not be able to watch but will stay up to date.

Um, last year when UT hosted UGA it was Sat, Sun, Mon.

The SEC network has one series per week that is Sat, Sun Mon and they typically do the Sunday game at 7PM and Monday game 7PM. I think it's a great thing they have done.

I didn't know that about last year but what makes it so great in comparison to Fri-Sun series? That's traditional!
