SA has a runner on first w/a single. Two runners on base now w/a walk. First & third w/two outs. SA still at bat. Arnold having trouble finding the strike zone. Arnold hits the batter....bases loaded now w/two outs. 2-2 pitch count on batter. Batter keeps fouling off pitches. Batter hits ball to Arnold & she's out at first.

Going to bottom of the 4th. TN still leads 2-0.
No runs no hits no errors. Going to the top of #5 inning.

Holcomb & Gregg will be at bat. Holcomb is on first w/a steal to 2nd. Gregg is the batter.
Gregg flies out but Holcomb moves to 3rd. Seggern at bat. Runner on 3rd. Fly out to center for the 3rd out. Going to top of the 6th. No change in score.

No hits no runs no errors. It's off to the bottom 6th.
It's a low scoring affair today. Kinda boring if you will.
TN has a runner on first. Ashley Morgan is at bat. Pop up at the plate. One out. Bearden at bat. Long at bat for Bearden. Pop out to 2nd base....two out now. Lockman is the batter. Pop out to left field for the 3rd out.
It's off to the 7th inning now.

This will be the last at bat for SA if they don't tie up the score. One batter is on base for SA. There are no replays to be shown in this game....weird stuff. Batter strikes out for one out w/a runner on 1st. 2nd strike out in the inning. So far Moss is keeping batters down & out. Batter hits to the 2nd base for the third out. Game over....TN wins 2-0 over SA.

SEC is now 213 and 33 on the season. Missouri dragging the league down with 7 losses.

Hopefully Missouri has weak pitching as the bottom of our lineup is horrible.
Ralph pinch hit .070 hitting Bearden for .192 hitting McSwain today guess that is all he had on the bench.

He had Hannon and Weimer. He could have even tried Langston or Batts. Anyone but who he tried.


He's enamored with Bearden for some reason no one else can phantom

Yep he sure is from all indication. She should have hit her way to the bench several games ago, or should i say lack of hits should have sent her to the bench. Only a average first baseman at best as well!:thud:

Here's some tidbits


Oregon lost to FSU after beating them Friday
Baylor has lost to Michigan, Florida and Iowa. They play #18 Louisiana in about an hour
Texas A&M split with Utah
Alabama lost 2 to Washington and lost to Northwestern
FSU split with Oregon and lost to unranked Hofstra
Louisiana lost to Michigan

Guys, what is going on with Ms. Sprang....

I heard on the radio she is having control problems.....Is she pitching practice on the side, to work herself back into the lineup?

She sure looked good in high school and travel ball...Wonder what is wrong.

They're working with her she will be fine! She will do great things at Tennessee!!

Dude I have heard that Marty is working on changing her delivery somewhat to help with her wildness. It probably happens more than we know in softball and i am sure that Ralph and Karen are good with this anyway. You would have thought this would have been done years ago. I really think she will come around in time but right now we are kind of in the same shape as last year with our pitching.

She got a little wild this past Summer and into the Fall...She will be fine...They also had to fix Erin Gabriel then had to fix her again after her hip injury...Gabby will be alright!!

I haven't seen Sprang pitch in person yet - but - their freshman year stats aren't very similar.
Sprang has pitched 14 innings. She has given up 15 walks and 16 hits. 31 base runners in 14 innings? That's a lot of base runners. And she has thrown 6 wild pitches.

Gabriel pitched 29 innings her freshman year and walked 8 batters. She didn't throw a wild pitch. Seems like from a control stand point they didn't have nearly as much to fix with Gabriel.

Plus Gabriel was striking out WAY more batters. More balls put in play off Sprang will mean more batters reaching by error too.

The regular season is 40% over and the SEC schedule is here. It's hard to see her being a reliable contributor against the SEC this season when she hasn't been against the OOC teams. Hope I'm wrong.

The last batter that Sprang faced she hit three straight pitches at the knees. I think part of her problem is trying to overthrow not staying under control. Trying to throw the ball harder than she can. I think she can get it up there around 63 64 with control trying to throw 68 not going to go well for her.
