Game thread: Lady VOls v Wofford

I was unable to watch. Is Franklin moving and jumping better tonight? Seems like she is pretty active per live stats. Of course it is Wofford we are playing

She had some incredible running layups plays. Franklin played well for what minutes she was in. 8 points and 10 rebounds, 8 offensive!

Her efficiency was team high 19 in only 14 minites. 10 rebounds, 8 pts. 3 assists, 1 steal. 1 block, 0 to. I think Franklin will be big down stretch. May be hard to keep her out of starting lineup even though Striplin is also playing well.

Is the Australian girl Rennie still a lady vol???
Knee injury. Out for season.

Rickea Jackson has to start. Period. Don't care about practice or anything else. Does not feel right for her not to start, feels like continued punishment. She's busting her tail, playing much better D and was all over the boards tonight, as apparently requested by her coach. I was a little disappointed not to see her playing with JH more. I get it, it's Wofford and no need to pile on, but we need both, together, for the rest of our games.

Even in the peak of Pat-dom, the LVs have never played offense like they've played the last handful of games. Never had this many weapons, never had this many shooters, never had this many assists. It's like after 40 years in the wilderness, the switch finally flipped. Of course it will get harder with SEC competition, but to see that many confident 3s going thru the nets was otherworldly. And the passing!

Regarding Justine, we already knew she could get hot and bury a bunch of long range 3s. Great to see it again. But the thing is, so can others, like Puckett and Tess, and they do other things better. Justine is certainly an option if the others go cold, and will be a future star. But I think she's getting the right amount of minutes for now.

So happy with the post play. Someone's always doing things well, like Franklin tonight. They're undersized and not always consistent, but IMO the post by committee is going to be OK in league play. Needs to keep getting better with the game experience, espec the sophs.

We need Jasmine Powell to find her groove and then I will feel pretty good about being competitive in the SEC. So looking forward to the start of the grind!

None of us like our won/ loss record. However, this is a teamto get excited about! So much firepower from so many sources Need to start Jackson as we move into SEC play. Powell needs to get bulk of minutes at point guard. Hollingshead is so talented but very inconsistent and makes too many mistakes but with time will get better. Franklin will probably begin to get.more minutes as we enter SEC play and as she continues to r.ecover. This team is very capable of making a Final 4 run, and I can do nothing but LOL at those who have concerns about us making NCAA tourney.

Outside of SC has many teams in league played any tough teams. Seems like a great win loss record for many without being ranked which tells me bad non conference schedule. Well Lady Vols have had to play toughest schedule so we should be plenty ready for Conference schedule. Great W tonight. Let's get little revenge on Gators Thursday. In CHRIST Alone

I want to comment on the game tonight. I rarely go to Lady Vols games, but I took the family tonight because we were all out for the holidays. There was so much that impressed me about this game tonight. First off, the team was exciting to watch. The three was falling, and we were all hoping they would hit 100. Before the game, I happened to be in the beer line when the anthem was played, and everything shut down. The entire concourse stopped in their tracks, faced a flag that none of us could see, and paid respect. I have never seen anything like that at any sporting event that I’ve been to. And when it was over, Jillian Hollingshead stayed in the lobby for at least an hour after the game, signing autographs and taking pictures with ice wrapped on both of her knees, and she was a total pro about it the entire time I watched her. For everyone who doesn’t make it to a lot of games, we should turn out a lot more often. These girls put on a show, and the atmosphere is amazing.

I didn't get to watch the game but loved it when I checked my phone at work and saw up big early. I know Wofford isn't very good, but that's 4 30 plus points wins with 2 close games against Vtech and Stanford in the last 6 games. UT is definitely improving and excited to see how UT responds with 2 SEC games later this week.

SEC better = lots of minutes for Walker and Jackson. I agree she needs to start. I did like Kellie's Ist half strategy of having Jordan H. or Rickea on the floor. The team needs one of the them, at least, to have a focal point for the offense. If Kellie does want to use Rickea as a supersub, she needs to be the first player off the bench. It makes no sense for Marta to be ahead of her in the rotation. To make a decent run in the SEC, the LVs need to lean into their best players and that set unquestionably includes Jackson.

Kellie basically said she isn’t starting bc she feels the starters now are playing well. I have to disagree with her. She has played that lineup against Ohio St and that’s when we lost the lead.

Kellie is delusional to think those starters can keep up with the aggressive and quick guards in SEC play. She needs to put her best players out there.

CKJH says that Jackson is coming off of the bench for no other reason than that the current starters are playing well.
Playing well against UCF and Wofford at home is different than playing against the top half of the SEC on the road. They'll probably need RJ for 30+ minutes against Florida. I think she should start.

Doesn't matter who starts or comes off the bench, but Coach is going to need to up the minutes of Jackson and Horston going forward. I could say that as well for Franklin as she is one of our three best players. Puckett could play a little more as well. The starting five are fine as they have been getting the games off to a great start. Couple of player certainly need to be taken out of the rotation so Jackson, Horston, and Franklin can play more.

Tennessee was a 26 point favorite won by 39. The over under total was 145 and total was 145 so no winners. Offensive rebounds, turnovers forced, and steals Tennessee had 36 to their 25 for a plus eleven for the game. We shot 81 percent from the line. Even for a team ranked 166 this was a terrific performance by Tennessee last night.

It looks like to me the last few games have been just going out and executing the fundamentals. Not so much worrying about the other team. Even against Stanford the execution was good. Wise coach told me once if you don't beat yourself the other team will not beat you.

The Ohio State game and current games are not the same. You’re comparing the first game of the season to now. This starting group has been playing well as of late. Defense, Rebounds, ball movement, and turnovers have all been much improved since the Ohio State game. Last night the starting group had 13 assist to 4 t.o.. Rikea got just as many minutes as the starters and will eventually be back in the starting lineup but for now it’s working. Against Florida, she may be back in the starting lineup but if not I still expect her to get just as many minutes if not more than a few of the starters. The current starting group is very fundamentally sound and all played together last season so their roles are very clear. Very seldom do you see them trying to do more than what they are good at.

Idk this season is all in shambles. We need a new coach. I’m just saying!

Wash away my troubles
Wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrow
Wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala

Ah-oh-ooo-ooo-ooowee, yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
