Arkansas just made the same mistake we did. Let’s put one more in before the half. 5 seconds is plenty of time.

Those were good minutes from Emily actually. A nice rebound. Stepped up on defense and challenged a shot. Then made a nice pass to Re for the layup.

Best quarter in a while for the LVs, especially offensively. Good coaching plan to exploit their lack of height, good adherence to game plan by players. Can we just give them a rust mulligan for the shaky start? Leading a top 15 team by 7 at the half in the first game after a sudden layoff? I'm ok with that.

On the down side Nabors is a really good coach so I expect quality adjustments from them coming out.

Much better defensive effort than it looked. Ark did get a lot of 3s but most were contested. In the second quarter we ran them off the line much better. Ramirez does not like to put it on the floor. She’s much more comfortable in the catch and shoot. We forced her to take jumpers in that second quarter along with Dungee. They are way less effective if they have to run any kind of offense.

Holding them to 35 is really good IMO. This is a team that averages almost 90ppg. If we can hold them to 70 we have a shot.

Loved seeing us post up their guards some. Mentioned a few weeks ago that I’d love to see that against Arkansas in particular. Glad the coaching staff agreed lol. We have a huge advantage at all 5 positions. They really cannot guard us in there. We don’t need to hit another 3 tonight if we can keep hitting layups like that.

Helped a TON that KK finished her shots pretty well. Couple of them were tough buckets with contact. Much more difficult than a lot of the bunnies she’s been missing recently.

Yep. A quality substitution as it turned out. You know the evening is going well when that happens. Good for Emily. Between the 3 of them, Key, KK and Emily, there exists a really good post player. Wish we had one.

Suarez should not be in for the last possession for defense. Have 5 TO use one and put in Salary or someone more athletic, and call a play to end the half.
Outside of that, I am impressed UT is winning at the half. Offense looks really good for being off for so long.

We need to keep the same tempo in the second half of the game. Still need to extend the defense on the three point line if they score on some drives has to happen. You can't let them get off open threes. When we started shutting down the three point line in that second quarter we started getting the lead.

Hitting our shots kept them from getting out in transition as well. When we finish we have a lot more time to get back and set out defense. Hope for a repeat of that first half in the second. Controlled the tempo well aside from a couple minutes to begin both quarters.

Salary lost a couple defensive assignments on Ramirez and she hit two open threes. I think she is the better option over Suarez in a game like this with all their small guards but she has to know what to do on defense.
