Let's hope Dunbar just let nerves get the best of her. 0/6 from 3 for a 3-pt "specialist" is kinda hard to swallow. Nia looked good offensively tho...she was certainly "freed" in this game! And Graves with a double-double and shot 6/8 from field despite playing limited minutes in first half...hopefully a sign of good things to come!
Played a decent second half. You have to wonder how North Carolina held them to 27 points and we let them score 57. The major problem with the team is to many wide open three point looks for that team. They hit 9 about seven were unguarded. Moore is a good offensive threat her small size will make it tough for her to hold position and rebound.
I like Middleton to play a lot of minutes. I expect when the other girls return that Reynolds minutes will be limited to about ten per game. Moore will be in the rotation with Harrison and Graves.
The biggest concern is team still playing the same defense as last season. Nothing has improved there because I doubt that any of the players out of action other than Harrison and Carter have improved their defense. Jones can play defense we have to limit her shots on offense.
She seemed a little lost when she first came out, especially on defense. Settled in as the game progressed. I would start almost anybody over Jones. She is a great athlete, but her basketball skills and decision making still seem to be sub par. It was an interesting game, enjoyable second half, the first half was pretty awful. Team will need to be much better to be successful this year, but it looks like they have the talent to get a lot better. Still need more size IMO.What about nared?? I thought she would play more than she did..should she start over jones?
I have never been Holly's biggest supporter but she gave a very good postgame interview. She seemed much more comfortable and confident. More than I have ever seen her before. Was very impressed by her stance on the suspensions and her reasoning behind them.
The team we play next (penn) played in the NCAA tourny last year and was even up on Texas as much as 15 points. However, they lost their big time scorer to graduation, but still return the Ivy League rookie of the year from last year. Should be a competitive game
Was Nia Moore too scared to talk to Mickey on the radio show? that's not good news! Shyness is a terrible thang! I suffered from it as a kid... mostly ruined my childhood.
Several of them were short, and on those she was well behind the arc. The first time I was surprised when she took a shot so far back. Maybe it was nerves and she wasn't getting in her normal spot? Pretty shots. She has size and seems to have good upper body strength for a freshman. As the game progressed she seemed more comfortable. Lost on defense when she first went in. All three freshmen were impressive. When she calms down, Dunbar will be bombing from the third row. Today she was too nervous.
