Florida wasn't very good last season finishing 13-17 (5-11 conference), but this season, seem to be better. They are now 12-2 on the season. They had a good win to open the season against in-state rival FSU who was ranked 6th at the time. Since then Florida hasn't won against anyone of note except maybe NC State who they beat by seven 79-72. Last game they lost at home by 6 to Mississippi State 76-70. I watched part of that game and Florida was getting hammered and then made a furious come back but couldn't close the gap. MSU is now ranked 8th. Florida had a whopping 32 turnovers in that game.

I expect Florida will not make Missouri's mistake and play man defense, they will play zone and the LV's as we know struggle badly against zones. Florida is guard oriented with one 6'-3" player and that's about it for height. There is a 6'-4" player on the roster but I don't remember seeing her play in the MSU game.

Maybe the LV's can pressure Florida into a lot of turnovers and score in transition.

If the LV's fiddle and diddle around because of the good win Monday over Missouri then the game will be close. If they play as they are capable it should be a double-digit win.

That is what I never understood about the Mizzou coach.....she didn't have not one player who could guard a LV one on one but yet she stayed man.....thanks for that Mizzou coach

I hope we can beat Florida by double digits but I do not expect it. We can beat Florida from the inside, even with a zone, however, that will depend upon post play and it is any one's guess as to how that will go. I do think we have a wild card in Diamond D. if she goes off and we can hit a few 3's and shoot around 85% or better from the foul line, it would be a given for a sure victory. We cannot afford to miss a bunch of free throws. We will still need to limit our turnovers and turnover Florida with aggressive defense. I hope we worked on lay ups in practice because I think we lost 10 to 12 points on missed lay ups in the Missouri game. If we had made 80% of our free throws and easy lay ups, we would have beaten Missouri like a drum.

On another subject, I would like to say, I am not anti Holly, I would just like for her to bring this team around. To find an answer for poor offense and poor recruiting. Though the jury may be out as to Holly being a top 25 coach, I certainly believe she is a top defensive coach.

I feel that Jones will not return as a redshirt senior because of too many concussions. If we are left with only 9 players next year and no aggressive post we are in trouble. This can be rectified if we are able to recruit 3 top JC post/wing players or convince a good graduate post player to play her final year of eligibility with the Lady Vols. Based upon Holly's four years of recruiting, I have my doubts she will be able to bring in any top JC post/wings because of the recruiting competition from other top programs. I seriously believe that our 2017 success or failure in recruiting will determine the future success or failure of the Lady Vol program. If Holly fails in recruiting for the 2017 class, I feel that she and her staff should be fired. It would be a given that she lacks what it takes to move and keep the Lady Vols in the elite category. When you pay a coach the salary Tennessee pays Holly, there is no room for OJI especially 4 years of OJI. Either she has it by now, or she does not.

But no matter how much I complain and bit--, I will always love the Lady Vols.

Dean said on his interview that she had swelling and discoloration under her eye but she is tough and will play.

I have to think we have more team athleticism than anybody in the SEC. What the Vols don't have is a high team IQ and good shooting, which are rather important in basketball. We have a great and very old tendency to be sloppy and dumb on offense, to shoot poorly, and this is why we are in so many close games that a better coached team would win by 20. Look at Missouri: as solid as we were, we went the last 8 minutes of the second quarter without a basket.

Dean hit on an important point: DeShields is a wild card. She is extremely talented but erratic and seems a bit of a moody player. She has been wildly inconsistent. She came out in the 3rd quarter and hit 3 quick baskets that were huge--but I don't think scored again the rest of the game and finished 4-14 from the floor. She needs to be good every game--because she can be. She is still young and coming back from a year off, so I hope she grows as the season progresses. The team needs her to be consistent and to be a leader.

Why do all your post point to negatives of the team! Mix it up for 2016 damn!

Just becauseI question Holly's coaching and recruiting does not mean I dislike Holly. There is a difference between disliking someone's ability to successfully carry out their job and the person themselves. She seems like a nice person, however, I feel she has a lot of work ahead of her if we are to be an elite program.

Not to fool you again, I am not ANTI HOLLY AS A PERSON. As a coach, except on defense, she does not seem close to being a top ten coach. This program and the fans deserve better than what they are receiving.

fans deserve nothing unless they are sitting in the stands and paid money for their ticket. We watchers from afar are just dust in the wind.

the team positives. I will focus on the realities that have dropped us to a second-tier program. When we start playing good, smart basketball consistent with our talent, then I'll be a lot more positive.

Florida does not have a roster filled with a bunch of slow white women like Missouri. Florida will be more athletic. Florida did beat Florida State.

The Lady Vols better be ready to play from the very beginning of the game if they want to win.

This will probably be my first and only post on a message board, but since I do sit in the stands fairly often and pay for my ticket, just as I will be tonight, I would like to share an opinion. This morning I read the following in an article in the Knoxville newspaper:
"Holly Warlick unwittingly caused an insurrection Monday night. Tennessee's coach said 'a couple of times' she called off the pressure defense the Lady Vols were utilizing against Missouri, only to watch the players disobey her orders.
'They kept pressing,' she said. 'So I'm not very smart I guess.' "

Am I the only person who thinks that comment speaks volumes about the current state of affairs with Lady Vols basketball? Does anyone think for a minute that Pat Summit's players would have directly defied her instructions and stayed on the court? Can anyone fathom her saying that in a postgame interview? Can you imagine the same thing happening on a team coached by Auremia, Stringer, McGraw, Mulkey or Staley? Even worse, is it likely that the players on those teams would be justified in disobeying their coach and that doing it might well have preserved the victory?
I love the Lady Vols and continue to support them. I buy tickets to at least half of the home games even though I live two hours away. I have not missed watching a single game on TV, Watch ESPN, or by using a Gametracker. I am not writing this to criticize Coach Warlick on any kind of personal level. I just think it is obvious that she is not on the same level as either her predecessor or the leading coaches in NCAA women's basketball today. That does not mean that she is bad. She just can't coach or recruit at the level to which we have been accustomed, and I think the program is headed in a very downward direction because of it. I sincerely hope that I am wrong. I plan to remain a fan with my time, energy and money, with or without her. But I believe that if we want to see more LV banners hoisted in Thompson-Bowlng Arena, it is probably going to have to be with a head coach who merits the complete respect of her players and who more adequately represents the high standard of excellence that is the legacy of Lady Vols basketball.

If any of you have Fox Midwest, La Tech is facing Old Dominion at 9pm. I plan to watch after Tennessee kicks Florida's butt.

Welcome the the Lady Vols Forum.

For reasons that escape me at the moment, you might want to add 16 points to the UT prediction and 33 points to the FL prediction. This prognostication might bring us luck and would more closely approximate an old familiar comfort zone I have seemingly slipped into.

Actually during the 2007 final against North Carolina Pat told them to stay in a certain defensive scheme I can't recall but anywho Parker told Pat know UNC is killing when we use that defense coach this is what we need to do.. The players went on the court and followed Parkers orders... Sometimes players do know what works best and maybe they didn't see a reason not to press idk
