I thought they defended Horston well game one. They left Walker on an island who ended up having a big game

But the reality is when you face good teams down the stretch here in the post season, we need other kids besides Horston and Jackson contributing. That balance is super important
Walkers 19 was needed to keep it respectable.

This. For about the 12th time this year. All of this.

On the other hand, shouldn't the dang law of averages catch up at some point? Can we really lose em all? Every dog has its day. Maybe this is finally ours?

In case its not our day, losing somewhat decently will cost hosting, which we never had, and a spot down to 6 ish? It will be nice to get out of the SEC and try someone we haven't played at least.
I think getting the 6th seed would be better, we wouldn’t have to play the one seed until the regional final. That’s unless we win the tournament and get a 3 seed.

Yeah I thought I remembered that about the 6 being better than the 5. Lol it will be the one time they overseed us.

But dang we need to get over this hump of losing these games.

Tennessee had to play poorly for LSU to win the first game on the road. TN doesn’t need Walker to score points.. they need her to play with poise and keep the offense flowing. On defense they need Walker and Striplin to carry their weight. Benton from KY is a better player than the LSU PG.. and when Walker had some good possessions defensively in this game for whatever reason she started to get complacent. It’s time to put together a complete game for every starter not named Horston and Rickea. Horston will be the best athlete on perimeter in today’s game… she just needs to lock in. I’ve seen Horston have great games this year in losses… today she needs to do what it takes to win. If it means blocking shots or getting rebounds doesn’t matter just play winning basketball.

The 5 plays the 12, and the 12s are often the mid-majors who've won their conference championship.

Tennessee really, really needs to try land that 4 seed.

I’m with you. This team has to break through at some point. The tough schedule has to pay off at some point. The thing is though, you have to be ready for the moment and outside of three quarters of the Stanford game, we haven’t looked ready for the moment. That’s step one, imo. Our head coach hasn’t looked ready for the moment a lot this season, which is a problem.

I also agree re seeding. A 6 seed wouldn’t be the worst, especially if we could avoid potential second round matchups with UConn or Iowa if they end up being a 3.

I totally agree. In the current Bracketology, those 13 seeds look mostly like a breeze (though not sure I'd want to go against UMass again), but those 12 seeds look a little scary. Toledo (who won at Michigan), St. John's (who won at UConn) or Oregon (who certainly has the talent), South Dakota St. (who beat Mississippi State and Louisville, and is rated #16 by Her Hoop Stats), and UNLV (who has beaten absolutely no one and I think is quite overrated, but they are ranked).

I was just thinking that it would have been worth it to win by only one point last night after what Petty pulled. If the difference in the game had been the two technical free throw points we scored because of her antics, Petty's teammates may have done some team meeting course correction for her that might have actually made a difference in her life going forward.

The key is for Kellie to outcoach Kim . These ladies can beat this overrated team if her rotation and match-up are on point. Minimize the minutes of Powell and Puckett.Use Wynn on defense if needed. Whatever we do STOP Morris.

I see what you did there.

As it was, she really cost them the best chance they had of a comeback. Kyra's last couple of teams have had issues.

I'm trying to see it, I want to see it, I'm squenching my eyes hard, but I just can't see it. Because we just are who we are, and the breakdowns, espec turnovers, will doom us I'm afraid.

Last time, Jordan Walker scored 19 pts, had a career game. Not exactly counting on that again, but we need the PGs to really play well, and someone to be able to guard Morris. Then theres the Flaue'jae problem. Yikes. I'm afraid we're badly overmatched here.

Last time Tess had just 2 3s. Need at least twice that to loosen up the paint.

Last time, Jordan Horston was just off, all around. Certainly we can't survive that, and I think she will play well this time. But must keep her t.o.s to 3 or less.

Last time RJ 'only' had 17 against them and they were tough points to get. That was in large part bc JH was not creating much of a problem for them to worry about. RJ got up just 14 shots against them, needs to get up more tonight. I don't expect her to go off for 30 (but I'd be ok), but she needs to keep the 20s streak going for us to have a chance.

This is probably the biggest game of KJH career to date. Last chance to get a signiture W that helps mitigate the seeding damage of her overscheduling mistake. Yet another opportunity to break the spell of 0-fer against ranked teams. She desperately needs this game.

But I just can't see it.

LSU - 72-64
“Desperately needs this game” is a bit over the top. Other good points for sure though. I feel like JH is in a better mind set now. I expect a good game from her!

Desperate may be too strong, but every time these opportunities come up and we don't beat a ranked team, it becomes more a monkey on KJH back. Time's a wasting on this season, not many more chances.

This one could possibly mean hosting, so that's extra importance. It's big.

Imma gonna go way the hell out on the proverbial limb and state, if we can beat The Bayou Barbies, we can beat Sakerlina.

Here's the "redemption" game everyone wanted. Chatter on the forum all season has been "LSU is overrated," "Tennessee would be ranked as high as LSU with their schedule," "Tennessee would beat LSU away from their homecourt," etc. Well, now we will find out, and Kellie has one more opportunity to get a signature victory this season. Let's see what you've got...

*a penultimate opportunity*

I would also disagree that LSU is overrated, but it is true that others have made that claim. This would be a great win, and frankly, a win that recruits really need to see as well as a competitive showing in the finals to get this ship moving in the right direction.

LSU is still a hard team to get a bead on. They have that glitzy record but still not one win versus a ranked opponent. I suspect they are probably a top 5-10 team, but we don’t know still and it’s end of season, weird. Their schedule of course is the culprit, but also the one ranked team they played beat them decisively. We will know more after today, but even if they win the doubt lingers again until tomorrow. I could see them squeak by UT today and get thrashed again tomorrow if SC is their opponent.

Lady vols needs to play defense & have the fighting spirit from beginning till the end. And be able to defend Morris & Reese. That's the only way we'll win. Horston needs more offense like Kea... Jasmine can't stop turning ball over, and foul foul foul needs to stop. "Every possession matters." Good luck
