Game Thread: Lady Vols vs. No. 1 South Carolina; 7PM Thurs, ESPN

Looking at the halftime stats, a few things stand out.
We're holding SC to 31.8% overall shooting. 25% from 3. The problem is SC has a 30 to 20 rebound advantage. Including 16 to 6 offensive rebounds. Have to do better there.
Also we MUST, MUST, MUST get Jackson going. She should attempt more shots than anyone else on the team, and by a wide margin.

No timeout called of course.

Just dumb as it is possible to be.

Yes, just don't understand that when your team offensively and defensively were in LaLa Land.

It seemed in the 1Q Coach was constantly motioning keep your hands up when on D to make the SC inside pass more difficult. Players did it for awhile but as the 1Q went by, the hands went down and the ball went inside and the refs started calling holding/pushing fouls inside. This team doesn't listen or this Coach can't command respect. At least Barnes is quick to yank a player after a dumb action.

Add to that, on O we went stupid again with a shrimp driving for another layout amidst the trees (and why is she even in there at the end of quarter?), giving her the fast break pass earlier to just get her shot stuffed, Hollingshead spending hours away from the low post & afraid to put back a rebound for points or drawing a foul, Horston running on macho adrenaline instead of senior control. Doesn't even take into account the many layups/underneaths missed.

And, in spite of it all, kept it close... we'll see.
I feel better now.

When we have a 10-point lead, Harper has to provide better leadership and structure to help this team fulfill its expectations. We become totally unglued and suggest we have to rely on talent alone to have a chance.

That’s a foul every time, Rickea. Not smart. Decision making out of the half has been terrible.
