Game Thread Lady Vols vs North Carolina

Well, I said in an earlier thread today that this would be a good test for this young team. I can gladly say I was wrong. We listened to the game while we were at GT watching them play the Georgia Bulldogs. I just watched the Lady Vols on DVR and it was an impressive performance. Congratulations to the ladies and the coaching staff. I think the new assistants have brought some renewed energy to the program. GO LADY VOLS!!!

Here is what I like about this team so far.

1: They play hard all the time. NC hit the wall late in the game and were completely gassed but we were just getting started. Teams don't seem to get too many easy baskets against us compared to teams in the past.

2: They hit the easy shots around the basket. Izzy looks like a completely different player this year.

3: They don't seem to have mental funks and this is probably due to number 1 above. If you are working hard you are too busy to pout or worry. Play every possession the same regardless of score.

4: They all seem to know their roles and are developing a little chemistry.


This team has played better than I thought they would thus far but the more difficult games are yet to come. Every different situation... such as facing an elite team on the road as we will soon do... is completely new for this team. I expect them to stub their toes and learn some lessons the hard way at times, but many of our worst fears have been allayed by what we have seen so far.

It will be fun to see how far this team can go.
