I don't know either hopefully it will be or someone will have it online. I'm watching a game from three years ago that they had on the site.

this team will have to get a lot better if they plan to win a 9th tournament. right now they may be one of the 8 best teams in the country. you can't coach effort and you would think that after the scare with MTSU, this team would have decided already to play hard for 40 minutes. also, Russell has to get better. i know she's a freshman and there are some jitters, but having seen the other top freshmen play already, Russell should have been top five, but not #1. i have never seen the coaching staff develop a true center or post player, which causes me concern for Russell. Ashley Robinson, Michelle Snow, Tyesha Fluker, Nikki Anosike, Kelley Cain, were arguably just average as Lady Vols and their games didn't really grow much during their college years. For Russell's sake, I hope someone finds her a coach to grow her game.

you can't teach tall but every thing else is up for grabs... she needs a lot of work, just to be average.

To be fair, aside from Griner, women's college basketball hasn't had many, if any, memorable, dominant centers. That's one reason I enjoy watching over the men because the game is still developing.

welcome to the board smooth_1911 :hi:

Nikki Anosike got in to much early foul trouble a lot, especially when she played against Griner

So i's okay to get that critical on a freshman after 5 games into the season, who is still learning and adjusting at the college level and still has a lot of upside? but yet say nothing about a senior and a junior who has been struggling so far this season and give them a pass?

Russell is going to be a very good player for us. I have absolutely no doubt about that. She's just a few games into her college career and still trying to adjust, which is normal. Give her time.

sure,it is the internet :)

she will be great one,she just needs some playing time against college players

just think how good she will be next year, after being in a college SnC program for a year

yes i agree i know once she gets acclimated at the college level and get more stronger and physical she could be a force to be reckoned with. it's just irritating how some on here are writing her off already when she's still just a freshman.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Kortney Dunbar was at the game with her family today. They were all rocking Tennessee gear, and appeared to be having a good time. Look forward to seeing her on the court next year.

The game they lost at Virginia several years ago to a less talented team. - very early in the season in fact foreshadowed their year long play. Superior player but never able to become a 40-minute team. As Holly said yesterday - being 5-0 means nothing AND she is always positive on how good the team can be. That is what the coaches and the fans are hoping for. And for those who may have forgotten remember the shooting percentage of G Johnson in her freshman year and even later before she learned not to rush her layups. I suspect there were board writers who wanted to bench her after her first miss!!

As I read the negative responses I choose to read that after a 30 point win the writers are hoping for the players to play in late November as they need to play in late Feb and March.

The real problem with Russell is expectations. If she was rated in the top 20 instead of #1, everyone would be very happy with her. All player ratings need to be taken with a grain of salt. The most talented coaches disregard ratings and pick players that will fit best with their team.

Through five games,Lady Vols seem to be learning to play together. It was good to see Holly sit people to start the second half yesterday.Good coaching move, and should have sent a message.Regarding Simmons being open so long on the wing, that happens too much to be coincidental.I think maybe the defense prefers that she take a quick three, rather than drive past a defender. Her long range shooting has been off a little bit thus far.On Russell, she has some good moves and just needs to adjust to tougher competition and get stronger. She will be a terrific low post player as she gains strength and game knowledge. My biggest point of contention with this group is the fact that they tend to play the game as the competition does, rather than play their game and dictate to the opponent how they will play. All those things are fixable and we should look to follow our Lady Vols to Nashville in April.
