I don't know what to say. I've never been Holly's biggest supporter but the question of who do you replace her with has never been answered. But the way we played in the Penn St game and now this, well I can only describe it as leaderless. Syracuse is a decent team (unlike Penn St, who are not good at all) but with our talent we should be running them out of the gym. So, if it's generally agreed that we have the talent to play with anyone yet have trouble beating a team ranked #80 (and without their best player) on our own court, then I can only conclude that the problem lies somewhere other than the players.
And I don't want to hear about the players getting use to each other either. Only Cooper has to fit in. Russell and DeShields scrimmaged all of last year with these players. While Russell looks fully healthy, there's something going on with Diamond. I'm not sure what % of totally healthy she is but it's certainly not close to 100%. I'm starting to be really concerned that her injuries are of a chronic nature.
Hopefully they'll pull this game out and I'll be able to see the silver cloud. We are after all only 4 games into the season. It has to get better, right ?
