Game Thread: Liberty v Lady Vols, Sat. Nov 16th; Home-FCC; Noon; SEC+ network; win 109-93

Alyssa Latham offense is not iffy. Around the rim she can score at will.
She also can shoot the three ball.
I don’t know what Latham or Ayodele have to do in order to earn a spot in the starting lineup but I can bet they are very close.
Perhaps so. I guess I feel like even her makes aren't pretty, rarely swish. Just trying to figure out why she isn't on the court more often, and I think her shot being a touch uglier than the best scorers on the team might be a part of it. I'll pay more attention to her game offensively going forward, to see if there's something I'm missing.

I bet she's up there in minutes by the time we get into conference play.

I’m not sure how that matters. Latham can score at three levels. Most of her looks are coming from the 3pt line now, if they allow her to play in the mid-range and on the block that’s her strength.

We just need faster players that aren’t always in chase mode. That’ll come. Coaches will have to adjust rotations and minutes as we start playing better competition.

Do you really think the coaches' white board ever addresses aesthetics or style points?

The bigs in the SEC are about to eat this team up.

Beers might go for 40 and 20.
That is exactly what I've been thinking. The only reason we beat Oklahoma is because they had no post presence last year.
She couldn’t have done it. She would barely be crossing half court before she had to turn around most possessions.
Yet a mid major center wouldn't have dropped 27 on us. So there's that. You can't teach someone to be 6-7 and the last two mid major posts we played have exposed our defensive weakness and that is post defense. Power 5 coaches won't wait till the 2nd half to expose it.

After today's game, and knowing that Florida St. likes to run, run, run like we do, I'm going to end up having a final score prediction of something like 157-152. o_O
We got 10 days to make up some Run-K.I.M. t-shirts.

Buy the girls some gold and a few kangols.

Beat the lady cocks 130-120...woo!

I hope not! 2 points are 2 points, period.

But your best shooters have shots that don't touch rim at all. I don't think Latham has shown that — but like I said, I'll be watching her more closely to see if it's something I've just been missing!

Again, I'm just trying to rationalize why she isn't getting more minutes.

The fact that she acknowledged the D needs improvement and stated the issues along with rebounding makes me feel better that it will get addressed. I would have been concerned had she not.
Boy hidey did she acknowledge, and for those who say she'd never throw players under the bus like the other mean coaches, well you'd be wrong. We know well by now that CKC is brutally honest and direct and she says without hesitation here that they're teaching and practicing the right defense. Says the problem is all on players not executing what the coaches draw up. Says it's part lack of communication, part lack of effort. Not saying she's not right, just that she'll never hesitate to say it.

Like some on here today, she acknowledges Latham and Favor are among the better defenders, and of course Boyd. I wonder if part of Latham and Favor's advantage is not playing as many mins as the others, maybe they're legs are fresher. There's trade off w offense w all three and so IMO there needs to be more strategic and individual subbing.

Sounds like some 'you're going to hate me' practices coming up the next 10 days.
