Game Thread: Liberty v Lady Vols, Sat. Nov 16th; Home-FCC; Noon; SEC+ network

I’m here after today’s performance. Just keep the tourney streak going and bring on next years recruiting class and transfers.
making the tournament shouldn’t be something we congratulate. honestly, we should atleast get into the round of 32 but would love to be in the sweet 16.

Fatigue seems to have already been an issue. Is it possible to consistently play as hard as they do on early D for four qtrs, even w the heavy subbing? Do they need to be in even better shape?
No, they need to lose some games in order to learn to play hard for 4 quarters. Lady Vols need a really bad lose to learn. Marshall lost to a team that was ranked in the 300's before they learned anything.

Hmm. Doesn't seem a bad loss should be necessary at this level. All the film study, white boarding, practice can't teach it instead? Crazy system!

Nah I think this team is better than just barely making the tourney. Lots of talent, I think they can be one of those on any given night teams and think they'll actually win a couple of big games this year. So much will depend on the shots falling, like they did today.

People have formed an insufferable misconception of what the SEC really is.
I’m talking about the SEC with the addition of Oklahoma and Texas.
MTSU competed against a much better LSU team last season on the road than this 2024-2025 version of LSU in a poorly officiated NCAA tourney game.
MTSU right now would beat a good number of SEC teams.
Against Liberty, Tennessee played inconsistent defense.
Many breakdowns and mistakes by the same players.
Still won the game. And by a decent margin of victory.
But if Coach Caldwell was concerned about making things look good on the defensive end of the court, she would play her best defensive players when teams start to score points and go on runs.

Kim explained, “You don’t understand it until you’ve experienced it.”

As a former athlete, I get it.

Most people have to learn their lessons the hard way. It's just human nature. Hopefully Florida State will take Lady Vols to woodshed and beats them by 35. That'll wake em up.
After today's game, and knowing that Florida St. likes to run, run, run like we do, I'm going to end up having a final score prediction of something like 157-152. o_O

And she warned everybody the first couple of months would be ugly at times.

Damn, people be patient and you will love how this team plays in March. Nobody will want to see Tennessee in their bracket.
