Game Thread: Tulsa v Lady Vols, Sat Dec 21st ; West Palm Beach Classic; 11AM Eastern; BallerTV:

Not a great end to that quarter. Players started to get tired because we didn’t sub as much that quarter.

Apparent against better coached teams we can’t sub like we want. A couple players are just too much of a liability on defense.

Didn’t get matched up on our press well after subs a couple times as well. Players have to communicate better. A well coached team like Richmond will get a layup off of that every time.

This is a very good Richmond team, they are receiving votes and Texas only got them by 10.

Need to keep turning them over and play our game and we should be good. Hate all the open layups threat getting on the press today. We have to adjust on that, they are throwing the long pass so someone has to be back and ready to pick that off.

Just enough of a 3 pt splurge on our part and cold 3 pt shooting on theirs is pretty much the differencce. Also we've outrebounded them 23-13.

We have 8 t.o.s, Ruby and Zee have 3 ea and have only turned them over 6 times. That's letting them hang around.

If they shoot 3s better in the second half it might stay close.

Some costly turnovers sometimes we try to do to much to quick. We have more turnovers than they do. Both teams shooting 50 percent and were going to need to keep shooting it well.

I like how different players stand out in every game. Ruby doing it today.
Makes us hard to scout, truly never know who is going to go off. Could be Spencer, Spear, Ruby, Zee or Coop on any given game. Tess is always going to be our steady shooter. Only have a couple teams can help off.

About 5 of our turnovers are weird offensive foul calls. Always frustrating when that is your biggest turnover stat.

Which, considering that none of our bench players hav gotten Puckett's minutes, even late in the game when Strickland, Favor, etc. would be much fresher than all of the starting 10 [let alone fresher than Puckett] I'd say that's not happening. We're committing hard to just cycling our starting 10 all game* even tho #11, 12, 13 could make solid contributions with their energy in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Disappointing that they've not getting any minutes at all, even putting aside the fact that Puckett is getting ~15 minutes per game.
Sara only played 5 mins the first half. Her mins are def going down.

It's a problem if we get tired bc we can't sub like we want. We're going to be able to sub like we are now less and less as we play better teams.
Nope. She said she doesn’t really call TOs.

We’ve been winning, but I still don’t like it.
Another thing the last staff got roasted for around here. But calling t.o. to stop runs is def considered old school these days. Anaylitics say other things, like subbing and changing up defenses, are more effective at stopping runs than burning a t.o..

Went in as a 10.5 favorite so even with the bad ending were doing what was expected. Another half like that one would be fine with me. We could've had a 17 point lead though with a little smarter play.

Tennessee controlled the 2nd qtr. The lead built up to 15 points when Whitehorn, Hollingshead, and Latham started using their length to disrupt the offense.
It doesn’t always have to be a steal to force the team to turn the ball over.
This needs to be a coaching adjustment, the players are trying to set a trap when that’s not going to work consistently no matter who you’re playing.
I keep hearing people talk about Richmond 11 pt loss to Texas, I’ve watched Texas this season and they just aren’t as good as people want everyone to believe.
Richmond is a sound team. Tennessee shouldn’t be trying to trap when not necessary or is a strategically sound plan just to get steals when defensively in the 2nd qtr up until 2-3 mins remaining Richmond had only scored 9 pts in the 2nd qtr.
They closed the qtr scoring 8 more points in 2 mins due to easy baskets.
