I'd also like to commend Wayne on his performance tonight. I know it's pretty easy to bag on the guy sometimes, but he had a terrific game. The ridiculous (in a good way) three in the second half came at a pivotal moment, and most surprisingly, he came through at the free throw line. Awesome effort overall. It was fun to watch.

hopson showed his youth tonight but overall it was a great win and a huge confidence booster going into the christmas break....GO VOLS!!!

I think it was a bigger deal than theteam let on. He's a much better shooter than he looked like after the spill. The pullup prior was money.

Hopson just needs to let the game come to him.. he and his teammates know that he has more talent than anyone on the court..

He is sooo gifted, but i can tell he plays nervous, and trys to hard to score.

if he just relaxed, get some confidence, he would Flourish..
he needs a couple nice drives to get him going..
he's settling for too many threes

I wouldn't put too much in to his performance tonight. After the injury he wasn't the same. His shots didn't look normal.

he still looks hesitant to drive..
he needs to drive a couple steps in and knock down those medium range jumpers.. no one can guard that.. he's got the size and length that no one will block him.. and his accuracy is great in that range..

If he does that more consistently, his 3 point attempts will fall more consistently also !

Great win for the team last night! I hope this gives them the momentum back from the Temple game. I think we should be solid when JP comes back, if we can keep everyone healthy!

All thanks be to Chism and poor free throw shooting by Marquette...We are playing very bad right now and can not foul that much to get past the regular season in the SEC...We have got to establish someone that can handle the ball better and need the inside out game more with this team...Yes it is early but not promising yet

I get the impression he plays 10 times better if he's about half way PO. They outta slap the hell outta him as they leave the locker room just to get him in his zone.

That was a good defensive performance against 3 very very good guards. Marquette was flustered for a good chunk of the game because of our match-up zone defense, and their poor free-throw shooting was a result of the pace of the game we forced them to play. Now, I do agree that we played horrible man-to-man, but Bruce managed to light a fire under that team defensively about half way through the first half. Also, our freshman are suffereing from a little bit of low basketball IQ, but that's what most freshman do so I figure they'll come around more as the season goes on. You'll notice in crunch time we didn't have a single true freshman on the court, and I think their nervous play was a big reason for that.

props to Pearl for getting this team ready after such a deflating loss on Saturday.

props to Wayne Chism....career night......couldnt' have come at a better time. Nice job at the stripe.

Josh Tabb, Rolondo W., Cameron TAtum all have done nicely as role players.

Brian Williams continues to impress, must continue to improve. be more aggressive.

Maze was solid last night as well, thought he did well against their guards.

Hopson is playing young in my opinion.....sky is the limit for that kid, but has some developing to do.......and it would be nice if it happened sooner than later......

Still need some more consistencey from the perimeter.

half court D was better. Nice to see visible improvement game over game. they had some def. possesions last night that were as good as i've seen.

all in all, that was a very good win, and couldn't have come at a better time. Keep it rolling to Allen Field House.......that KU game should be fun.

I agree. How could it not be promising. You are not going to blow a team like Marquette out.
Those guards they had were solid and smart. I think the team showed great promise by hanging around playing very good defense (even scotty played better D) and getting marquette to play there style. At halftime the score was 32 - 32 UT was caught playing their style. All that changed with the 2nd half.

On another note not sure why MU ever broke out of that 1-3-1 defense. That seemed to neautralize maze and force him to make risky passes. They should have stuck with the defense.

All in all a good game. And I think these tough games will do nothing but help them down the road.
