Game Thread: Winthrop v Lady Vols, Sun Dec 29th ; Home game; 2 PM Eastern; SEC+: win 114-50

We know the level they are at right now. They beat Florida State by two and they beat Iowa by 10. They handily beat a few good mid-major teams who are in the 30-80 range, and they crushed the weak teams. That is the performance of a team in the 15-25 range nationally. The question is whether or not they have another gear to step up to. I think they do. No one is going to look forward to playing Tennessee in March.
Totally agree. Some things I didn't expect make me think they could actually find the gear to make a run at the big dogs. One is the buy in, the energy, the consistent intensity. Interesting to see if they can keep that up, physically and mentally , thru the winter. Another thing I didn't expect was Coop to be at All-SEC level altready. And I didn't expect Spencer to be such a good pg.
The light bulb seems to be finally clicking for Sara and Jewel! I love Tess, but I’m going to wait and see what she does against the big girls,
TBH, Jewell and Sara haven't exactly set the world on fire historically against the best competition either. At least not consistently. All three are capable, but all three are also capable of the 1 fer 10 runs. I want someone to be a 36% 3 pt shooter bc they shoot 36% almost all the time, not bc they shoot 65% sometimes and 20% other times. Just need 1 LV to fill that role, could be any or all of them. We'll see.

I think we mow through the SEC, with the exception of South Carolina, I’m sorry!

Texas and LSU won't go down easily either. [and we play LSU twice evidently, for some reason; that'll make it harder to win the SEC this year...]

But yeah, I agree with you. We didn't play a complete game against FSU and still won, because we "mowed through" them in the 1st half. Especially against the bottom half of the SEC, we really should be "mowing through" them for at least 20 minutes of the game, hopefully 30. [edit: well, depending on your definition of mowing through; I'd consider a 55-30 stretch 'mowing through' even if there's a stretch of 18-15 thrown in the middle]

The teams that can rebound or hav a ball handler that can get out of pressure easily, those teams will be more trouble, but even then we'll probably hav some 15-4 type runs against even them.

Nothing ironic about it. Just say you disagree. You strike me as someone who gets aggravated if you can’t sway another person opinion.
Tons of things on here get posted that I disagree with.
It doesn’t bother me. I don’t take it personal. I don’t quote and constantly try to downplay how others think.
I simply post my thoughts as anyone else.
As for the topic, that is not even close to the definition of stat padding.
From someone who has played and coached sports, on no level of athletics would you tell or expect the 9th,10th,11th 12th,13th, or so on player on your roster to stop playing hard or don’t score even up 50 points.
Every single team in the Top 15 is playing their starters in the 3rd and 4th qtr in WBB regardless of the opponent.
So are they stat padding too?
