I know that I have seen Elementary school teams that play a better offense than we do. All we do is stand out on the perimeter until the shot clock runs down and throw up a bad shot. We occasionally try to throw it inside into a triple team. That is our two step offense.
I'm glad we got the win tonight but....damn. It's almost to the point where I can't watch them play anymore. Don't they practice some kind of offense at practice? There's three freshmen still sitting on the bench collecting dust & rust plus Nia Moore came in for about 2 minutes to play. They look like a bunch of chickens running around passing the ball back & forth. Hell, just throw it to Izzy inside to score. I thought we finally had 3 point shooters this year but it seems they have left the team.
Ditto maybe what we see is outstanding coaching and outstanding offense, just maybe 27.5 shooting is actually good. Maybe unforced turnovers is the way for teams to get better and just maybe disrespect for a team's outside game is common place. We are watching excellence and did not have a clue. No, listen, we really want to know what is going on? We must be looking at this cockeyed. So, help us out.
I will never understand why Middleton is not on the floor more. The girls makes things happen. I know she took the blame for the turnover on the behind the back pass but Izzy let up and wasn't expecting the ball. You better be paying attention with Middleton on a break. We have to put some shooters on the floor. I'm not sure what is so hard to understand about that. You have to hit some outside shots to free up the middle and our best shooters are on the bench not getting a shot. Hopefully we can start hitting some shots. We are going to need them. We can't win depending on one post player to score.
Players have to make plays. Someone on the floor, not the coach has to step up and take ownership of the team. Until that alpha dog appears, then it is going to look like a hot mess at time. Especially on offense. What were CPS's teams known for? Get in your face defense and owning the boards. We were never a beautiful passing team offensively, moving the ball crisply around the horn. But she did have players that did know who to get the ball to when it was time.
Holly isn't Pat, we all know that. She is having a hard time finding her own way. That's an awful big shadow to have to work from, knowing every thing you do is compared to the greatest to ever coach the game.
That is not what I said, but you can take it as such if you like no big deal to me. Players must be able to take what is taught in practice and drill work and make it translate to the game. If you had one second of coaching experience higher than peewee basketball, you would know that things get worked on in practice, but it doesn't always work out in the game. The other team is out there playing also. And they have scholarship players as well.OK, now we understand. It's the player's fault. Now it makes sense. Those damn players better step up and support Holly. Cause see its their fault if Holly fails. You see she didn't ask for that job. Dave Hart twisted her arm. She was the only one Dave could find to take that job with those monster shoes in the way. Now we get it.
Overall I expected this kind of performance, this game was all about toughness, we won. Holly can only do so much, the players have to play ball, and sometimes as a coach you feel hopeless when you have a mentally weak team.
Right now, we have a team of mental midget, they were tired, but hey they did find a way to win. I'll take that.
The ladies had a short turnaround, prolly got home early Sunday morning, just enough time to do a walk through, scanner report, a lil sore, a lil exhausted, er thangs tight, reminds me of the Ncaa two games in three days, almost like a survive and advance mentality.
Nice to see Izzy push through, after a physical 40 minute game against Rutgers, we looked sluggish, tired, mentally fatigue, glad to get the win but we have a lot of work to do.
Im not happy with the guard play, Reynolds, Carter, and Ariel are not ready yet, which sucks cos I ve been pulling for Carter and Reynolds, they have no swag to their game they look like robots, both are good defenders but that's it.
Jasmine Jones not playing tonight hurt this team, her and Izzy fire the team up with their play and hustle.
Right now, the only players I trust are Izzy and Jasmine, er one else mental midgets. Yes it's time to try Middleton at the point Reynolds, when she played in high school, Sec she played with a swagger, a pop in her step, it looks like a chore, it doesn't look fun for her or Carter, no smiles, no laughter.
You win big games with good guard play too and that has been our Achilles heel since Parker left, quality efficient guards on both sides of the ball.
Holly look like she was trying er thing but er one she played gave her no spark. She had to stand the whole the game cos her team was a head case tonight, many of em gave in to fatigue. We need to get in better shape.
The door is still wide open for Tucker, please get healthy. Reynolds and Carter are good defensively but have no confidence on the court offensively, no swag.
Middleton would be my first sub off the bench at guard, Izzy and Jasmine would be on the court the most.Tucker hurry up, lets see what you got.
I know we all want to blame Holly but when the players are on the court, they are in control, she chose the right opponent to challenge her team, and they were challenged, and they survived but we are not well conditioned team and two games in three days with travel is very taxing, very different from NCAAs, cos you don't have to travel.
Guard play, defense and rebounding win championship, its no longer just defense and rebounding, nice win but mane we need to become mentally tougher team (conditioning, focus).
