It’s hard to load the box against this offense tho bc our wrs line up so wide, we just need a few passes to make sure we keep them honest tho like you said. GBO!!This is still statistically a good matchup. I think the whole talking head club are picking the Sabanites to win based on home field advantage and crowd noise. If you take away that, our defense matches pretty well with theirs. The big rock on the weight-scale, is quarterback play. They know Milton is not trusted to throw the ball, for whatever reason (receivers, injuries, route-running), so they're going to stack the box and MAKE him throw; MAKE Heupel & Halzle put in some vertical game. They are also aware that Saban instructed the crowd to get loud, so they're expecting a lot of dumb penalties and to get a lot of 3 & outs--if,if, IF they can shut down Small, Wright, and Samson. I think if we can stay disciplined, throw enough to keep them honest, and get back to TEMPO football, we can wear that defense out by not giving them enough time to sub. We can't play their game, or they'll win by time-of-possession and penalty stacks. This is a winnable game though.
Facts. The biggest thing in a game like this is the trenches. They have a very good DL but the gap between their DL and our OL is not nearly as big as the gap between our DL and their OL. If our DL does what it normally does we will win this game. All the talk is about our inconsistencies on offense but no talk about bammer’s. Our total offense is ranked 32nd in the country. Theirs is ranked 85th in the country. I’d rather have the number 32 o against the number 16 d than to have the number 85 o against the number 18 d.
Exactly, I'd love a win today over bama but if we bring the crap we brought to gainesville earlier this year, this one will be over in the 1st half. Bama will sell out to shut down our run game which will force Joe to beat them with his arm. Nothing I've seen from Joe this season remotely suggest that's feasible. If the Joe who showed up against Clemson in the Orange bowl reappears today, we have a definite shot at the upset. Are you surprised? I’m very happy with this season so far, but nothing I’ve seen from recent road performances would inspire much confidence that we get it done today. This is a house money game. Alabama is a big favorite for a reason. We haven’t given the pundits much to like about us this year. They gave us our due a ton last year.
