Considering the circumstances, Murphy performed well, but Tennessee's defense surrendered nearly 700 yards and 59 points to Oregon last week and is still a work in progress.
Remember when Driskel was regarded as a true up-and-comer after he registered 300 yards of offense and two touchdowns against Tennessee last year? He ended the season averaging just 137 passing yards and carried a mountain of criticism into this season.
For all the fans wanting to see a change at quarterback, they got their wish Saturday. But they shouldn't expect life without Driskel to be easier. Tennessee's defense is nothing special, and Murphy hasn't seen or been through anything Driskel has in two-plus years.
you have a shot to win the east with him, call me dumb if you want to. it will depend on how many times he throws int's.
This.I'll just quote this ESPN article:
We suck. You won't know whether or not you have a good quarterback until you play a quality opponent.
He managed the game well, something that Driskell was having trouble doing. Murphy certainly didn't do anything to lose the game, but he made some good runs in critical situations.
The good news is he's a good player, I also think he's better than Driskell has showed for you all year. More good news, Georgia has zero defense, so your weak area is now improved against them, their O is good, but your D is very good if you stay healthy, I see you cats beating them. Bad news, USCjr, I see taking it to you guys though this year.what did you think of murphy? do you think we'll actually be better off with him?
yea i was very impressed how he played for never taking a snap he basically saw all the dumb stuff jeff did and didnt do it
he threw it away when he needed to didnt take the sacks jeff does i swear he's half blind
gotta see if he gets better and how he does against uga/lsu/sc defense
what did you think of murphy? do you think we'll actually be better off with him?
