Gator Strategy

Well, judging from the only objective measure available, which is the common opponent in LSU, you'd have to like Florida. But, while Florida stacked up fine versus LSU, they didn't really beat them to the tune of two touchdowns' worth as the scroe might indicate.

My sense is that both defenses are very, very good and there is no reason to think this will be a high scoring game. Auburn's offense is more traditional and relies much more on the run. But they will have to string together a lot of drives with no mistakes, and that's tough to do against Florida's defense.

Florida on the other hand STILL seems like it hasn't quite reached its potential offensively. There are flashes of it, but the Gators can't seem to put together back-to-back touchdown drives like they did 6, 7 years ago. They've shown flashes of being able to do that, but not consistently.

I think the score is likely to be similar to LSU -- a total of 30-35 points. And that probably favors Auburn. Put it this way: If Florida can score 20 or more, I think the Gators win. To do that, they must get some rhythm and Auburn is a tough team against which to do that.

If I had to guess, I'd say Florida wins by a touchdown or less.
Fair enough, you will win if you ask Grossman to throw a couple, da bears lol

Wynn may be back this weekend, but I am assuming that the UGA game is more likely.

I think you guys have hit the nail on the head, though. Tebow adds a dimension to our offense and he has been so explosive that I genuinely think teams are a little bit afraid of him (no, not in the sense of worried they cannot tackle him -- more that he opens up a bunch more plays and they need to be thinking about their assignments.).

During the LSU game, when Tebow ran onto the field and Leak off, you could see the LSU guys frantically looking to the sidelines and then talking to each other, trying to be sure what each was supposed to do. It definitely had an effect on them.

Also, while Leak has solidly been moving the team between the 30's, Tebow seems more driven to score, whatever it takes. Obviously, Leak is a much more experienced and accomplished passing QB. But he seems to me sometimes to be too technical and not playing with enough instinct when plays break down, as they inevitably do.
During an interview with Rex Grossman on televison last week, Rex said he thought Tebow should play running back.

One thing UF still does, regardless of the HC, is capitalize on others' mistakes. In a well played game, no way are they 14 point winners over LSU. No disrespect. LSU served that one up in fine choking fashion. All part of the excercise. UF's season thus far reminds me of our '98 season. There was, on more than one occasion, just casue for us losing 2-3 games, but lady luck fell our way. It takes a lot of her during a NC run, especially to do it undefeated. UF has not really dominated yet, but has had some things go their way and subsequently are still undefeated. Did they honestly have the better team in BOTH the UT and LSU game?? Probably not in either. And I'm sure UM is very glad UT is done and gone. He wouldn't want any now. But, somehow they're hanging around. Be advised, the last 2nd ranked SEC team this season got beat. If De Ja Vu doesn't come knocking, UF could very well sneak through the season and into the NC undefeated.

I think Florida was certainly the better team in the UT game and the score was closer than the game really was.

LSU might actually be better, but its very close and in that game they imploded five times and in bad spots and Florida took advantage.

"the score was closer than the game really was."

The Gators were down 10 late in the game and if not for a big sack when the Vols got to the Gators 39, Florida would have lost and they would be the ones in catchup mode. instead of Tennessee. Don't get me wrong, Florida played well enough to win the game and they did. However, to say that the score was closer than the actual game...

Lawgator, you've been real nice the past few seasons while the Gators were losing 3 or 5 games per season. Now that they are undefeated, your recent posts have started to resemble what we are used to reading from flaming gator fans. Don't turn to the dark side.

The score was closer than the game actually was IMO. I think if we played the Gatos again we could win, but I do think they outplayed us. We had two huge plays on offense, and that block in the back was non-existent.
