Florida does have alot of talent in the state. It's not hard to pull talent down there though. Beaches, good weather almost year round, and women in bikinis doesn't hurt! I think everybody (including FL fans) underestimated them!

Gainesville is a ****hole. If all of those things mattered as much as you say then Miami would still be a powerhouse, and no one would ever go to Tuscaloosa. I think it has more to do with Spurrier starting something big and the fact that Florida has been one of the dominant programs of the ESPN era. To this generation, Florida is supposed to be good. The state talent keeps them from falling too far. The reputation they have earned does the rest. It sure isn't one of North Florida's many fine trailer parks selling recruits. I would not really think it is Muschamp's magnetic personality either.

Yeah, you got to have a Ron Zook in there to mess up that recruiting...it is indeed very fertile ground.

If there's one thing Zook didn't mess up while at UF, it was recruiting.

Zook was a master recruiter going back to his days as Spurrier's DC in the early 90s.

He just couldn't coach worth a damn, and he was a PR nightmare off the field.
