Gators cap costs Razorbacks correspondent her job

The story I had heard was that it began to rain and she then put the cap on. Unless their was written in policy that while covering the U of A you must not wear caps period or states other univ apparel, she has a case. Still pretty stupid and petty on both ends

Dan Patrick interviewed someone affiliated with the media outlet this gal worked for.

He couldn't give any details, but he said the UF hat was one of several incidents that led to her being fired. There's also a rumor floating around that she was posting to her Twitter account about how she'd rather be in Gainesville....while covering an Arkansas practice session.

So much about this post is scary and a condemnation of our educational system.

Yeah, this is right up there with "freedom of speech guy" complaining when someone gets reprimanded or fired for making racist/sexist comments on the job.

She deserved to be fired. Her facebook and twitter was filled with comments about how she hated her job and Arkansas sucked. Very unprofessional and embarrassing.

Her company dictates what she should wear. The school dictated whether to talk to her or not.

so whose rights are you crying about?

The right to pursue happiness as long as it dosent infringe on others right ! Not crying I am a veteran an defended these liberties that so many forget.

Wouldn't that violate the same constitutional rights that you are attempting to refer to?
Your post contradicts itself, aside from it being I am speaking from a hr standpoint and yes I think ur right but no one has seen the employ handbook one way or another.

So when you were serving I assume no one had a problem if you wore whatever cover you wanted because that made you happy?

Wrong. It infringes on the company she works for right to make money. If she is endangering their ability to have access and make money they have their right to fire her.

As a veteran you should be aware of this, how would you have responded if the guy you worked with showed up in a speedo and a snorkel mask when you were about to deploy? Is he not infringing on your right to live?

So she got fired for using her constitutional rights? So are the dictating to people what they have to wear or are they jackarses? I think anyone can wear whatever they want as long as it's not lewd. Sue the piss out of them!what's the world came to.

Constitutionality has absolutely no bearing on this situation.

There is no constitutional amendment that says "You can't be fired for wearing something your employer and listener base disagree with."

We haven't forgotten our liberties, they just don't apply in the context of an employer/employee relationship...especially when the employee's actions can negatively impact the profitability of their employer.

I heard this today as well. The whole thing is stupid but she apparently has done the same sort of thing before this instance.

I kinda have to agree with the firig here. She was working for a ststion that carries and is a Razorback affiliate and she shows up on media day wearing a rivals hat. That's kinda like working at Mickey D's and going to work in a BK outfit, I understand the firing and sounds like she was just trying to create a buzz which she has...

She obviously was looking to be fired to get the media attention. No one would be that stupid. Sort of like Dooley attending practice wearing an Alabama hat.

she shouldn't be wearing any schools hat. not even arkansas. she's supposed to be unbaised.
